The teacher is great. She really explains well and is to the point. What the hell is up with the TA's?! They think they are so superior it's so stupid. Beware of Samir--he grades VERY harshly. You think he is helping you out, and you try your best....to end up with a terrible and unexpected grade. McEachern is really cool and I did learn from the class; however, b/c of my TA I despised the class. Don't take Samir if you can avoid him!

Professor McEachern is a splendid professor! Her Milton lectures were like heaven to me. The first day of class she told us Milton was her favorite course to teach, and the last day of class, I cried because I could feel her love and passion for this amazing man. Milton was also a philosopher, and after this class, I felt more inclined to return to the roots of my faith. McEachern doesn’t mean for this to happen, but it occurs naturally as the questions of the works were powerful enough to stir my own faith. She includes historical references, but also focuses on the beauty of the literature, which I loved. McEachern is a fast talker, so I would sit up front, get there on time, and if you have a learning disability, seek help from OSD and ask for a note taker. She is understanding if you have an LD. If you need to speak with her, she answers email promptly; I would recommend seeing her in her office hours, as she seems to be in a rush otherwise.

The class can be boring because she reads from the book but she tries to make it interesting. If you take this class, make sure you have looooots of time on your hands.
