He just rambles on for ages and then doesn't actually explain anything relevant. He's a great guy but just isn't all there, so I changed to P/NP in the week 9, because term paper is 50% of grade!!!!

I LOVED THIS CLASS. The readings were a bit tedious, and they took time, but Professor Trojan was exciting and really engaged with our ideas. One of the first Political Science classes where I felt like I was actually being listened to. The final paper was long, but there's a lot of flexibility in terms of the prompt/readings you choose to use. I struggled with the writing initially, but Professor T held extra office hours and met with me multiple times to review the paper and talk through it. If you like political theory, I would recommend at least one class with Professor T!

Trojan is goated at UCLA. He's one of the most funny and engaging lecturers I have ever had. He manages to cover topics in an interesting and clever way that makes you think differently than you might have before. This class was a really interesting deep dive into some of our founding documents that your previous American government classes probably didn't cover. The class itself was graded on Perusall annotations and two "Interventions," which are basically like mini essays. Definitely take this class if you want an easy A with a light workload, but also want to learn something and engage with the subject matter.

Worst professor I've encountered so far during my time at UCLA. He and his TA are harsh graders and will easily deduct points and will not provide useful or helpful feedback and will instead be vague and confusing if there is actual written feedback, and will not provide where the points were deducted from. The interventions (mini-essays) were graded and the TA provided a rubric with highlights of why they likely cut points but did not explain exactly where the problem was, preventing us from learning from our mistakes for the next intervention. They also take forever to grade and by the time they finish grading the intervention, you would most likely have already finished with your other one. Also, the course reader that is used in this was very expensive being over a hundred dollars, including taxes, and is honestly not worth it because you could find the articles online. Overall, my experience in this class was very unpleasant and I would never take another course with this professor again unless I had no other choice. I would recommend taking this class only as an absolute last resort.

This class was fun. There was a lot of group participation within the lecture. We went over readings and discussed ideas that we may not have completely understood. He really liked to listen to our ideas and take on cases. I liked to learn about important cases that set precedents. The class consisted of readings and annotations you complete online through a textbook before every class. Then you talked about that in class. The final was a 14 page paper. It was tough to get started and pick a topic or frame a thesis for me personally. But he set office hours for everyone where he helped me get an understanding of what I should be writing. I ended with an A. I would definitely recommend office hours if you want to get a good grade on the final. That's basically what your grade is composed from.

He makes me sad. His book is expensive. Do NOT buy it, you can find the texts he talks about online for free and even the right page numbers if you are snazzy. He has pop quizzes normally on Thursdays and the last day/week of quarter. Do NOT show up late and make sure you join the groupme.

The grading is as follows: Interventions 33%; Class Contract 1%; Annotated Bibliography 4%
; Introduction Pre-Write 2%; Peer Review 10%; Term Paper Final 40%; Quizzes / In-Class Exercises 10%.

Go to his OH for interventions BEFORE you turn them in. His grading team is wack though lowkey. His interventions are weird and you can not cheat on them. Listen to class lecture for quizzes if you did not read. Do not wait until last minute for the interventions or essays or you will die.

I highly recommend you take another class if you have the opp. to do so. He will stress you out. He does, though, remember your name which is cool and he makes an effort to remember information about you. But, he does not round.

I am so fond of Dr. Trojan! He is so caring about his students' learning and comprehension. I will say this class is pretty heavy both pertaining to the workload and mental load. That being said, if you want to excel in this class Dr. Trojan gives you every opportunity to do so.

Dr. Trojan was extremely engaging during lectures, he was always dressed nicely (which made class feel a little more like class) and had a huge smile on his face ready to lecture. Every week, Tuesday's and Thursday's it was required that we submitted annotations on Perusall.com, they were due before class which was at 1230PM. It was a tedious task, a lot of reading which made the workload a little heavy. We would discuss the readings in class, Professor would typically ask questions and engage in the discussion with the students. We also had two mini essays, 4-6 paragraphs each due twice during the quarter which weren't too difficult, his instructions were clear and he gave great, meaningful feedback. I am taking another course with him since I did really well and also really enjoyed his class. Definitely recommend!

I felt that this class was quite horrible. The professor purposely ignored the emails of most of his students during the duration of the semester. Whenever he didn’t feel like dealing with an issue, he simply chose to ignore the issue altogether. The grading was a bit harsh on very complex topics. He graded fairly in the beginning half of the semester and chose to randomly start grading harder on the last assignment due for the most amount of points at 50% of the overall grade. Overall, I would never take this class again. Move at your own risk.

Very tough grader with writing assignments and the writing assignments is all you get graded for. Some had a better experience by asking lots of questions during office hours so I would recommend as most of the writings are about your interpretations of a philosopher's/politician's argument. Just wish there was more opportunities to increase your grade or individual writing assignments rather than the majority being parts of the writing for the final. Overall the prof is very enthusiastic and makes going to class fun :)
