I have nothing bad to say about Professor Cabric; she's an excellent lecturer and explains concepts fairly well. I'd be willing to take her again for future classes (pending TA situation).
The TA though.... I know on Bruinwalk I shouldn't 't curse, but there's a phrase with word that starts with an "f" and ends with an "-uck him" that can only describe my feelings for this TA. I wont name his name, but everyone who took this class Winter 2022 knows who I am talking about. Unironically, because holy sh*t, the anal-ness of this TA is beyond describable, off the f***ing charts. Let me put this lightly, you are getting maybe like 25% of the amount of pent up frustration and contempt I had in dealing with this particular TA. I ain't no joker now, don't get it twisted, but holy f*** I went almost insane several times on the homeworks, which can only be described as hell.
Pre-2022 tests are hard for Cabric, which were tough but fair. Our TA, on the other hand, had other ideas... lets just say, our exam medians were about 10-20 points lower than previous years. Lmao. This is because of how the class works; the TA is responsible for creating and grading all the homeworks and tests. In previous years, this wasn't a problem as most TAs I'd imagine aren't freaking psychotic masochists. Winter 2022 TA however was, making sure our life was a living hell. It got so bad even the professor had to step in in the later weeks to tell our TA, "bro, chill TF out!" Damage was done unfortunately with midterm and homework grades.
I at least got the grade I desired. Others less fortunate than me don't have it so nice. All I can say is, whatever the hell you do, if you do not want years of life expectancy taken off, do not take this class if the TA's name fits the initials A.W. Maybe he is misunderstood and I'm being a harshass, but real talk, do you really want to care about whether his intentions are good or not when its 4 AM and you are still stuck on his damn homework from hell? Lmao.
Can only take pass/ no pass. You need to attend 8/10 weekly 1-hour seminars in order to pass and submit an answer to a trivial question to Gradescope after each seminar. Very easy, and your choice whether you want to pay attention to the seminars. Some but not most seminars were held on Zoom instead of in-person.
Great class. Really enjoyed the final project in Matlab. The tests were hard but fair. The TA was very helpful for our year. Overall would recommend if you want a more rigorous introduction to signals and systems.
Most fun EE class so far. Really enjoyed the later discussions/lectures. Tests were hard but fair. Professor let us drop homework too which was nice. I really enjoyed the matlab project in the end; it really help solidify understanding of the subject. Overall 10/10 looking forward to ECE113 in the winter this year.
Good professor, liked the class.
She is the hardest homework grader out of all professors in ECE.
don't take her class. she does not listen to students opinions. Her homework is dreadful
Don't know why she got such a bad rating here. I thought Cabric was a good professor. She explained the concepts clearly in lecture. I always left feeling like I understood the material better. In addition, her homework and tests seemed fair to me. Cabric gets the job done, and I would recommend her.
For the longest time I never understood why Cabric gets such a low rating here. I had her for M16 and 102 and I thought she was fairly good, though a little boring during lectures. Homework was easy for M16 but challenging for 102. She was friendly in office hours and you could tell she actually cared about doing a good job in lecture. Her TA's where horrible however. In both cases (M16 and 102) her midterms were very straightforward and too easy, but the finals were both tricky. I hear a lot of people complain about the difficulty of her finals, but personally I think that it is just that they are very difficult compared to the midterms. To be fair her finals are difficult but fair, so you just have to be prepared. I'm no genius but I worked hard in her classes and did well. She's not strict with her grading policy either. I was in the top 20% for 102 and got an A. Seems pretty standard to me.
She taught everything in class but put nothing useful online, her hw was easy compared to her tests, there was no fairness in taking this course with her
She seems fine when you start the quarter but her inefficiency creeps up on you.
Midterm was totally unfair final was worse ended up with a C-
Take M16 with Professor Yutao He if you can Hes awesome
I avoided taking her for 102 because everyone who has her dislikes her after
She could not explain the point very efficiently and clearly. Feel she is the worst prof I have ever met. I asked some of my friends, most of them do not understand what she was talking. Also, I would like to say she gives scores totally depends on whether she like you or not. Her 209AS scores are all about the final projects without exam. The project is open. So, if she likes your idea and you, fortunately, you will get high scores even you nenver show up in class. Otherwise, no matter how cool and difficult your idea is, or how hard you work on this project, sorry, you have no chance to get high scores from her even you get a nice result. Sometimes, you will feel it is unfair to give you such scores.
In a word, she gives scores without any relation to the academic performance.
