EXTREMELY easy class. Like, this is the way to go for a GE
I'm a PhySci major, so this class was definitely out of my comfort zone. I ended up really enjoying a lot of it. The plays we watched and read were very entertaining. It was mostly modern. There is quite a bit of reading, and we posted on a discussion board twice a week. We also had two 3-4 page essays and the final exam was only 40 question, multiple choice and T/F. It took me all of nine minutes to finish. The discussion posts and the essays were graded by the TA. My TA was very lenient on grading. Overall, I enjoyed the class and would recommend it if you're looking to satisfy a GE. I definitely have a new appreciation for theater.
I am selling the course reader if anyone needs it. Text at **********
This class was super easy and interesting. As long as you do the readings, and watch the screenings and lectures, you should do fine on the quizzes. Quizzes were all multiple choice that were very straightforward. The final was an 1500-2000 essay that was relatively simple. Take this class if you want a fairly light workload and easy GE!!!
The professor took what could have been a very boring topic (the basics of theater study/history) and made it engaging with many clips and examples.
It's a super chill and easy class to take. Apart from one essay, we only have to do one discussion post and 1-2 quizzes on the material every week. This class is VERY manageable. I also found the lectures to be very engaging, and you do have to go through all the lectures/videos/readings to do well on the weekly quizzes. We did not need a textbook.
I took this class asynch during c sesh and it was so incredibly easy. everything is online (weekly lectures and quizzes) and then 1 or 2 papers (can't remember). TAKE THIS AS AN EASY GE!!
Nice and easy class. However, it is quite some workload to watch and follow the lectures, readings and quizzes. You could probably end up searching summaries of them though
This class was so easy and enjoyable. It was asynchronous when I took it during the summer
Pros
- Some quizzes get dropped, but most of them are easy
- There's a paper to write, but you can choose from 3 different weeks to turn it in. I chose the 2nd option where I turned in my paper like Week 4 of Summer Session. Super straightforward, not difficult, and you can always reach out for help
- Discussion assignments involved answering the weekly question and then responding to someone else's post, but these were easy
Cons
- Lectures can get kind of dry, and I know they're pre-recorded, but even 2X speed sometimes wasn't cutting it
You literally should be able to get an A in this class really easily. I would be shocked if you didn't.
Selling digital course reader for Theatre 10 Summer Session C that can be accessed online. Text ********** :)
Professor Gorshein is an excellent profressor. He's engaging and you can tell he cares about his students. His passion in theater shows and he is a very conscientious professor, as he is careful about what he says. He explains things in great details and the readings that he gives are also very useful for the class. Definitely do the reading if you want to do well in the class. The plays that he teaches are also not boring either, which I think is great. The plays that he shows has great importance to society and what it says, really interesting. I highly recommend this GE. I've definitely developed an appreciation for theater after this class. I'm also selling the course reader. Message me **********.
