This class was so easy and enjoyable. It was asynchronous when I took it during the summer
Pros
- Some quizzes get dropped, but most of them are easy
- There's a paper to write, but you can choose from 3 different weeks to turn it in. I chose the 2nd option where I turned in my paper like Week 4 of Summer Session. Super straightforward, not difficult, and you can always reach out for help
- Discussion assignments involved answering the weekly question and then responding to someone else's post, but these were easy
Cons
- Lectures can get kind of dry, and I know they're pre-recorded, but even 2X speed sometimes wasn't cutting it
You literally should be able to get an A in this class really easily. I would be shocked if you didn't.
I took this class over c sesh and it was actually the easiest class I have taken at UCLA. There is one 200-word discussion post every week and 2 multiple-choice quizzes that are very easy and simple. Overall, would recommend taking it.
Weekly quizzes and one essay with an essentially open topic. If you are interested in any aspects of theater at all the content is interesting and easy to understand. Professor is very engaging and passionate about the subjects.
I really enjoyed taking theater 10 over C-session online. Each week the teacher would post engaging lecture videos, occasionally a reading, and online quizzes to be completed through Canvas. The material was easy to understand and the teacher was very supportive. Easy GE that I would definitely recommend!
This class was asynchronous, but it is an extremely amazing GE to take and the workload is very manageable. There were two lecture modules per week with an associated 10 question quiz which was pretty simple if you listened to the lecture and did the readings. Additionally, you had to write a short 200 wordish discussion post each week and reply to another student as well. One lowest score in each category was dropped. There was also one term paper regarding a theater topic, but we were allowed to choose our own deadline, which was great and the paper was graded very fairly. Overall, I really recommend taking this class as a GE.
TAKE THIS GE!!!
Cannot stress enough how easy and flexible this class was especially when I combined it with two other summer courses (major reqs) and working a part-time job. Dr. Gorshein basically has everything laid out in the syllabus and there are routine discussion posts and quizzes each week relating to the screenings, reading and lecture. There is one essay in this class (~1000-1200 words) but you can write about anything theater-related and Dr. Gorshein is very helpful through the process. I ended up writing about Japanese theater and he gave me lots of resources to support my thesis. **also!! there are three different paper deadlines to choose from, all spaced two weeks from each other so you get to choose when you want to do it by. I chose the earliest just to get it out of the way**
I really liked how quick the TA and professor would respond to emails and the quick feedback we'd get for our quiz, discussion, and essay scores. I have no regrets with this class and highly recommend. It was so relaxing and I actually did enjoy learning about theater with Dr. Gorshein.
Didn't really learn that much but it was an easy A. Lectures were just him talking about theater and the readings were a bit long, but you don't have to read it if you didn't want to.
This is a great and easy GE. I am a STEM major and not at all into acting lol! The only acting you actually have to do is a short video for extra credit (so it's completely optional). The readings and videos are interesting and pretty light in workload. The essays are graded fairly easy and it isn't hard to succeed in this class.
