Is this class an easy class? Yes. But it still requires a lot of work. You're required to attend a performance every week and write about it in a blog post. However, you can honestly just search up the performers online, watch a few youtube videos and bs the blogpost for an A. As long as you do all the assignments, attend all the lectures and discussions its an easy A.
The lectures are actually very fun! As long as you let yourself experience the class with an open mind, I think you will actually have a lot of fun :)
I feel that the reviews down below pretty much define how the class is. In my opinion, this class was an easy A as long as you turn in assignments on time, attend lectures, and attend the arts encounters performances that occur every week. People might end up with an A- or B+ if they ditched lecture or didn't turn in assignments on time. My TA straight up gave 0's if you ditched lecture or turned in assignments late, so be sure to just be punctual and give 60% effort. You get what you put into the class, and what you have to put into to get an A is not that much.
AA10 was by far the most unique class I have taken at UCLA thus far. Lectures and discussions consistently surprise you with the topics discussed within class, guest speakers, and activities. In short, this class will require you to move outside your comfort zone a little bit but it definitely worth it. Class has projects for its midterm and final. Also, this class does require attending an event once a week – some costing money and some being off campus. Overall, definitely recommend this class!
SUPER EASY CLASS! EASY A! 3 hour lecture once a week, but super engaging. There are no quizzes or exams, all you have to do is show up to class and be engaged. Each week they typically bring in a guest performer and introduce us to different forms of art. Your grade in this class is entirely based off of your discussion section. Each week we'd have to go to an arts encounter( a play/performance), do a creative assignment, and answer a question posted by our TA in 200 words. As long as you put effort in your creative assignments and attend all events you're guaranteed an A. funnest class I've taken!
David taught this class with Meryl and I loved them both!!! We went to a 3 hour lecture once a week and a 50 min discussion. We had a creative assignment due every Sunday and we had to answer a question in a blog. Participation matters. You have to go to lectures and discussions and to an arts show once a week. The shows are mostly interesting, but sometimes a bit too long. Had to create a creative assignment for our midterm and our final was to do someone else's creative assignment. You're graded on effort and interest really. I'm the farthest thing from an artist, but I still got an A! Would definitely recommend this class.
