Quarter: Winter 2018
Grade: A

There are 3 essays, but several prompts to chose from per essay so read what you want, but it's better to read all that's assigned. Participation in discussion is a big deal, especially attendance. The Professor is a really funny guy who knows what he's talking about. If you took AP European History in high school, it will definitely help you on your quest to get an A in this class. Out of all the Writing 2 classes, this class is definitely the better choice if you can't get into SCAN 50W. I took this class as a freshman and enjoyed most of the readings because they dealt with folklore and fantasy. Attendance for lecture is not mandatory unless your TA says so, but it does help to go to lecture because important pointers on the essays are given. There are no tests in this course, so be thankful because that's the way education should be. I would take this course again if had the chance to fill another requisite with the same course. ENJOY:)

Professor Macfadyen is a pretty cool dude. The topic can be boring and there are 3 papers you have to write, but overall it's a pretty doable writing 2 class. You don't really have to go to lecture, but use the concepts he discusses in lecture in your papers and you'll get a better grade.
