Schriver honestly is the nicest and easiest professor you will get for 6C, hands down. He is also really nice and understanding - if you talk to him, he will listen to you and help you out. He is one of those professors who really do want kids to pass and excel in the class rather than limiting the amount of A's that he gives out, and he really does care about how you are doing in the class.

Julio is an amazing TA, he will answer all your questions and answers your e-mails well too. For lab TA, Brandon was pretty awesome.

With this said, make sure you go to the review session, and study the past midterms. His questions really are straightforward, and there aren't any "tricks" on his tests. You will definitely get an A in his class if you study, but you don't have to study every single night for it. Make sure to go to him for help if you have any questions!

This class was pretty easy. Everyone knows it. I got 100 on both of my midterms with 2 days of studying before each one.
-Class is pointless because he just reviews equations with you. I never went and just learned how to do the homework to get an A+.
-Discussion is even more pointless, even though Julio was a homie.
-Review sessions before the test are crucial. Just go and you'll ace the test.

I ended up getting an A+ in the class. Take him.

David Schriver must be some kind of sorcerer. With my mediocre midterm scores (MT1=85, avg=~88; MT2=84, avg=~85?) and after missing a week's worth of homework completely, I was fully prepared to accept a B/B-. Yet somehow this professor/enchanter transfigured my grade into an A!!!!!!!

I took Physics 6C with Professor Schriver, and here's my honest opinion and some facts.

- Everyone can get an A. The curve will never hurt you.
- Go to the test bank. His midterms are pretty much exactly alike, quarter from quarter, so it's a guaranteed A. He may throw in one different question though.
- There is weekly homework on MasteringPhysics.
- He's super chill, he's straight forward, extremely easy to understand, and makes everything simple.
- Do the homework. Know the material. The midterms and final are the same level as homework type questions.

Drawback:
- he's not very authoritative, so sometimes it gets pretty loud. i dunno, it annoys me.

Take him. Do the work. Get an A. Be happy.

I was asked by a friend to write an honest review for Schriver as I have taken him last spring, and I didn’t really see the need to until I saw all the recent posts… Seriously, you guys? Are you really fighting over which reviews are legitimate and which reviews are not? And all this in a span of five days, and five posts from today alone…? This is ridiculous.

First of all, reviews tend to pour in during sign-up season, either to post honest reviews of the professor due to request (my case)/to give general advice to underclassmen. Apparently, people write on Bruinwalk for other reasons, but I honestly don’t understand why someone would accuse someone because it is a “bad” review of the professor. Please understand that there are 300 people in the class, and not ALL of them have to love the professor or think he is easy. That is what Bruinwalk is for – to get holistic opinions about the professors from a VARIETY of people. Seriously, all of you need to calm down and stop suspecting each other for nothing.

With that said, here is my HONEST review of Schriver:

Pros: He is a really nice person in general. He responds to e-mails fast, so if you have questions he will respond to you usually within a day. His lectures can go either way, there are good days and bad days, but I never really had any problems with them. Obviously, some of the material in the class is more boring than others. I thought he covered the topics well enough. But with that being said, I did not attend all lectures because I personally did not find them helpful.

Cons: His class, really, is NOT as easy as everyone says it is. I actually took Shriver because his lecture just worked with my schedule better, and it wasn’t my hardest class, but definitely not my easiest. I took this class with a psych upperdiv and a GE. I had gotten A in Physics A and Physics B, and I had taken AP Physics, so I was pretty confident in taking this class since everyone said Physics 6B was the hardest one in the series. Clearly, that wasn’t the case for me. If I could, I would really like to see the distribution for 2012 year because that graph above definitely wasn’t our class (Bruinwalk really needs to update their grading scales from time to time). I thought his tests were pretty difficult, and so did my classmates… They were not “homework problems” at all, so be careful!!!

Overall, I don’t think Schriver is the hardest, but I do not think he is the easiest, either. He definitely wasn’t my favorite. I would rather not discuss my grade in the class, but I suggest you REALLY study for his tests… like REALLY. And don’t listen and believe all the Bruinwalk reviews either if you don’t want to! Honestly, all this arguing is funny to me, never knew one would suspect another for “bad” reviews or “good” reviews. Take the class, if you don’t like him, switch or take it next quarter! It’s as simple as that.
