Honestly, the class itself is not difficult but Devito's tests were always unclear on what was going to be tested. I did decent on tests but was always missing points on something in depth that wasn't covered in lecture. Devito just reads off the slides and provides no depth. I went to every lecture and honestly not that necessary. I think he could be more clear on whats he is testing rather than us studying random material that we won't even be tested on.
Literal King he is really good at lecturing and the class exam is only 3 exams. (all noncumulative) The tests are very straightforward and you will do well if you study. If you have this professor for any MGMT course you are very lucky. Class also has a nice curve.
Professor Devitto is not a career professor, he actually came from being a real life accounting so he brings in real world relevant information that is actually useful to the business sphere. He doesnt just teach you what a journal entry is and how to do it, he teaches you why you need to journal entry and what this can tell you about certain companies. If you can get him as a teacher definitely do, he is amazing. Also teaches 1B so you could potentially have him again.
If you're an accounting minor, this will probably one of the easier classes you'll take, but for some reason no one does well on the exams. The exams don't feel hard but no one amazing on them. I think the average was consistently in the 70's. They're all multiple choice and your grade is made up of only the midterms and final. Theres an extra credit project you should defenitely do.
I really liked Devito as a professor. His lectures are very straightforward and the information is straight from the textbook. They aren't recorded but the slides are posted. There are 3 non-cumulative exams worth 33% each and you get one double-sided cheat sheet for each. They have true or false questions and multiple choice questions. His exams are very straightforward. He doesn't offer any practice exams and offers solutions to every practice question in the book so it's hard to know exactly what he will ask. There is also an extra credit budget project offered. Your grade is based on a curve with a certain point system. As a professor, Devito is very personable and wants his students to succeed! Would definitely recommend this class with him.
I really enjoyed this classes and professor Devito. The lectures are interesting and engaging. The exams are based on the slides and textbook readings. The exams are a bit hard to study for, as you don't get a lot of conceptual practice problems. You should definitely be able to end with at least a B in this class. I would recommend the class and the professor.
