Great professor, great class! It's on the first amendment so the reading is all landmark court cases. The info is interesting, but you don't have to read it. You just have to know the rulings that came out of the cases, and those are discussed in class. There are just two tests, the first two essays and the final with multiple choice, short answer, and one essay. All of it's very fair and pretty easy if you go to class and section. Professor Ross is an engaging speaker and we had some pretty interesting discussions. If you can take this class with her then do it!

This was an amazing class and Ross was an even more amazing professor. She is one of the best I have had here. She tells it to you straight up, she's witty and her class seems to just fly by (she is not boring or tedious). She has so much energy and speaks to you rather than lectures you. If you have to take this class, tka eit with Ross. She will make you think and you WILL walk out of the class with something valuable as well as feel that you have truly earned your grade too! The TAs are wonderful and they are super-concerned about your learning as much as you are!

Comm 101 was one of my favorite classes at UCLA, the only class I've gotten an A+ in! Not because it's easy, but because I was truly inspired to do the work and what was expected of me was clear cut and fairly graded. I highly recommend spending time in Dawn Ross' office hours before the exams, it is very helpful hearing everyone's opinions on the issues. I loved this professor!

I loved this class... it was 3 hours long and i actually enjoyed going to it. Professor Ross's lectures were funny and kept me awake. I feel like I learned a lot in the class, especially because my t.a (Pam Hobbes) was so good. If you get a crappy t.a. at the beginning, i would switch sections and try to find a better one. Your t.a. can make a big difference when it comes to knowing material for tests because Ross often gets off topic and sometimes doesnt cover test material.

Such a great class!!! I was interested the whole time. Prof. Ross is funny, entertaining and easy to understand. Her TA's don't help at all but doing the research about the court cases yourself really makes you learn them. I definitely suggest you take one of her courses.

TAKE THIS CLASS! Prof. Ross is caring, funny, and kept a three hour class at nine in the morning interesting... how many professors can actually do that? Her lectures are interesting and she always makes the class laugh. The tests are kinda tricky but if you know the stuff, its not bad. She is by far the best professor I have had at this school, and I know many who agree. If you don't take her class you're missing out.
