Yes, Prof Brown is a very sweet teacher. Her lectures aren't that boring, they're just sometimes repetitive. They can also be somewhat confusing when other students ask questions that totally sidetrack the lecture.
The class does depend too much on TA's because your grade consists of three things: Participation, 10%; Midterm essay, 40%; final, 50%. Your TA grades all three. Way too much power. Of course it's nice if you get an easy TA...
So great prof, you'll learn plenty if you're into the topic, but in terms of your grade and how much effort you have to put in, look to your TA.

Professor Brown (or Deb) was really a fantastic professor. I was totally surprised at the negative reviews, the lectures were as far from dry as the material would allow. I found that the only time I got confused was when I listened to the class questions which were off-topic. Her australian attitude definately made the class a bit laid-back, and the vegamite in honors section was a nice touch. Take her while she's here!

I did not find the lectures boring. Well, once or twice, but that was repetition of stuff already said. The readings are long, and quite confusing when you read the first time. But if you sit through the lecture on the topic and then read it again you will find that you understand most of it. The class only has a paper and a final, so there is little room to mess up. Getting a good TA is vital in this class since they are the ones grading everything. If you like deep metaphysical mind being stuff you will love this class. And take the honors discussion if you are in honors.

Professor Brown seems like a genuinely nice lady, and she know her stuff. She just can't get it across to the students without completely confusing them. Her lectures are also deadly dull which makes it even harder to concentrate on whatever it is she's babbling about.

Professor Brown is a sweet, caring professor. Her lectures are very instructive but you have to shop around for the best TA because your grade depends on them.

Brwon is a very sweet woman. she really cares and puts in the time to help you get the material even though its very dry. class is ez, npt much reading one essay and an ez final. she talks about fun stuff like weed and she seems to have partied in the hippies era back in australia the mother land of all philosophers where the good weed comes from.

very nice person, however some of us were not made to BE teachers, and she definately falls into this category. She trys to make it understanding but unfortunately it doesnt work. Your grade depends on your TA. the class is only midterm and final and a little participation. Little reading and minimal amount of work. You get what you put in. She even talks about weed so go figure!
