Like other people said, the exams are quite similar to the practice exams in terms of topics and question style, but expect 1 or 2 questions that were not on the practice exams. However, there was nothing on the final that we'd never seen before, so basically go over everything covered in past quizzes, exams, lectures, etc just in case something that wasn't on the practice final shows up on the actual one.
Brizolis is a nice guy though. Nice enough to give us 2 take home quizzes and curve the 2nd midterm when he realized it was unreasonably hard and that the average was a D. He says he doesn't curve but he does if everyone does badly enough .
The first practice midterm was very similar to the midterm however the second midterm was far harder than its practice one. The final was difficult but manageable however STUDY EVERYTHING. Don't rely on just the practice final to study. He may surprise you. Do not take this class if you have not taken pre-calc/calc before. Even though I've taken calculus in high school, there were many topics he went over in much more depth and detail. You have to understand the concepts and be careful with the algebra to do well on tests.
Brizolis pretty much assumes you already know Calculus. Coming from someone who hasn't taken calculus in high school, this class was very tough for me. 1st midterm was very difficult, especially since the actual midterm was 3 times the difficulty of the practice midterm he gave us. The second midterm was relatively easy, and the final was definitely manageable, not too hard or too easy. Overall this class is good if u know ur calculus, if not, be prepared to study hard. Had Coley as a TA, he was great!
Prof. Breezy is a super nice guy and is very funny but his teaching style is not the best. He does a lot of proofs rather than actual examples which is what I think what would have benefited the class the most. The midterm and final were both difficult but manageable. Try to get Coley as your TA. He was amazing and taught me more than Brizolis did.
He is one of the most chill math teachers. Although we have homework for every lecture, it is not big deal to finish it and it really helps to follow the lecture consistently. His lecture is very effective, and the best thing is that he gives us practice exams before every midterms and final, and actual questions are very similar to those so you don't even need to find other sources to study for the exams. His grading is very fair, too.
Brizolis was a great teacher. He was very fair with his midterms and his final, giving us practice exams that were almost exactly like the real exam. However, the final was very difficult. Brizolis is good and easy to contact. he is fair with his grading. We do have homework due every section which sucks but overall he is cool!
