Quarter: Spring 2024
Grade: A+

An absolute class act.

Not sure if he will continue to teach because I am pretty sure he has a job lined up after this year; which is unfortunate given how well he taught and how organized his lectures were.

He's very clear about his demands for the course. iClicker is 5% extra credit max. The lower midterm score was completely dropped because of complications with students. You do have to put in the work for this class, but he tells you what to expect on the exam and provides a lot of study material.

He also has a good sense of humor

Quarter: Spring 2024
Grade: A+

Dr. Hodko's class was... interesting to say the least.

As a professor, Dr. Hodko is quite generous, as he gave up to 5% extra credit, pre-curved the grade boundaries down (for example- if you want an A or higher, then you need >=90% instead of >=93%), and dropped one midterm. Additionally, he was really accommodating to students regarding the events that took place on campus this quarter, as he made the second midterm and final open-note online instead of having us sit the exam in person.

That being said, I felt like the class was rather poorly taught. Lectures were of middling to poor quality, the clicker questions often made no sense to me, I felt that the tests weren't really meant to be taken in a 50-minute time period, as you often have to sit and think through which material is applicable to the problem at hand to a much bigger degree than you do for 153A or 153C.

I felt the only reason why I did as well as I did was due to the accommodations given this quarter- without the accommodations, I definitely would've done far worse than I did this quarter. That speaks favorably to Dr. Hodko's personal character and generosity, yes, but overall, I'd say this course was not my cup of tea.
