By UCLA standards an easy A. I agree with the comments below easy class. 1 paper critiquing one of his concert shows and then a final on Buk So Ri I and II.
NOW FOR THE TRUTH.
Few minutes ago I finished his final and received an A-. One might wonder what's there to complain about then. First of all I am Korean American and he completely discouraged and bagged on me because I did not speak Korean (though I am fluent in Korean I felt it unfair for the other students who did not speak Korean and so did not speak it). I wouldn't go as far as calling him racist, he just prefers students who speak Korean. He completely humiliates you in front of class. I wonder why he even teaches. I have had horrible professors before but they all taught their students with equality. The way professor Kim treated me I felt inclined to make my first evaluation of a professor throughout my years here at UCLA. For the final athletes who rarely attended classes and could not even read the notes were given A's without hesitation however other students were graded more severely with a touch of discouragement after you messed up. For me he insulted me in Korean thinking that I wasn't Korean. Needless to say the professor as a teacher and person makes me wonder how UCLA could even keep a professor like that. I hope one day a student will stand up to him
