This class is awesome. Woo makes accounting not boring. I highly recommend taking accounting during the quarters where woo is teaching.
If you are taking this class for your major, trust your future into Woo's divine understanding of accounting and how to teach it. Her lectures are clear, concise and her teaching format is honestly just the best I've seen at UCLA. Also, taking MGMT 1B with her the quarter after taking MGMT 1A is a no-brainer so do that.
I managed an A in this class even though I got B's on all 3 of the quizzes and one big assignment that I got a C. She also gives two points extra credit if you complete the teacher evaluation. The textbook is very helpful as there are many practice problems and exercises to do and reading the material will help clarify any confusion, but Prof. Woo was very clear about all the information so only the exercises were needed. Would definitely take the class again and MGMT 1B with her.

Professor Woo is an excellent and well-organized teacher. Her lectures are clear, the notes have good examples, and office hours are very helpful. Grades consisted of three exams that were equally weighted, open note, and not cumulative. Homework wasn't collected and was helpful for applying concepts from lectures, but the problems weren't exactly like exams. Even though exam averages were pretty high she gave 3 points of extra credit for completing the course evaluation. You can really tell that Professor Woo cares for her students and wants you to succeed. I hope I get the chance to take another class with Professor Woo!
One of the worst lecturers in the accounting minor. Although I received an A in her class, I would never take her class again and would not recommend anyone to take her class.
-Weekly homework assignments roughly take 4 hours.
-Weekly readings are 80+ pages and she expects you to read each page in depth.
-Midterm and final exams are ridiculously hard, similar to Ravetch 1B exams. No multiple choice.
-She does not care if her students understand the material, she only cares to rush/finish her lecture and cram a large amount of material in each lecture.
-Lectures are unappealing and boring as she directly reads off her notes without clearly explaining the reasoning.
-She constantly showed up late to office hours.
-She does not give practice midterm or finals, and does not hold review sessions.
This class was fairly straight forward however your grade is made up of only the two midterms, the final, and the final project. If you do bad on one of these your overall grade will suffer. The lectures were clear and concise and she elaborated on any questions students asked during class. I would recommend using your TA when doing the practice set as it is the only real accounting work you do and it was overwhelming trying to complete the assignment correctly during finals week. The exams are all multiple choice.
This class was much harder than I expected it to be. Your grades are based off two midterms, a final, and a practice set. I made the mistake of not doing the practice problems that Woo assigned until the end of the quarter, and my grade definitely suffered as a result. The tests are manageable as long as you study/do the practice problems, but I did find the final to be difficult. The practice set is very time consuming, so start AT LEAST a week or two before it is due. Woo did not give any extra credit or curve the class at all.
This contents of this class are very simple and Woo does a good job of clearly and thoroughly explaining them. The exams are also structured to be non-cumulative, so you only need to focus on a small portion of the class for each exam. Thus, getting an A is extremely easy and straightforward. Having taken Gardner for 1A, I can say that Woo is miles easier, however, it is important to note that if you plan on taking 120A and onwards, Woo doesn't really prepare you too well. I suspect she skips over a lot of the content expected to be covered in 1B in order to give students an easier time, which can be for better or for worse depending on how you look at it. Overall though, I would recommend taking Woo for 1B, as all one cares about is GPA, and you will easily get an A with her.
