Woo is a very fair professor who I feel wants to help her students when they are confused. She made the course very clear and gave us all of the pieces we needed in order to succeed. Highly recommend taking this course with Woo.
Overall, I really enjoyed how professor Woo organized the class. She made fill in the blank note taking sheets that she went over in her pre-recorded videos. All of the videos and assignments were uploaded and thoughtfully organized on CCLE even before the class had started. That way you could always work at your own pace. The quizzes were short and it was very important to read the questions carefully as there is a right and wrong way to do accounting. I would recommend her class and it didn't take up too much of my time. The final project was more tedious than it was hard, but as long as you start a week before it's due it's really not stressful or hard to finish!
Prof. Woo is AMAZING! I heard from others that MGMT 1A is really hard but she makes the material really digestible and gives you lots of examples/problems to work with. Her exams are very similar to the lecture content and practice problems. Although we never had live lectures, they were really easy to follow and the notes she gives you are super clear. If you're hesitant about taking the class, definitely take it with her!!
This class was extremely straightforward, with bi-weekly CCLE quizzes and one final project. The final project was definitely tricky, and required a lot of time to make sure everything was perfect. Since it's worth 50% of your grade, it is really important to make sure it's all correct. Personally, I switched to Pass/No Pass because this class wasn't for my major or any credit and I didn't feel I could give enough time to the final practice set to get a good grade (I think I would've ended up with a B- if I didn't P/NP it). The quizzes were simple and straightforward, but were somewhat difficult if you actually did them closed-book, as you were supposed to. It was a lot of memorization for the quizzes, and, although HW wasn't submitted for a grade, I basically had to do all the suggested HW problems to do well on the quizzes-- especially if you want an A, I think you'd end up doing a lot of work and studying to get good grades on the quizzes. Not having any HW grades meant you had to do very well on every quiz and on the final project. The professor was a pretty good lecturer and I liked her lecture packets. She was very clear and explained things well, and I appreciated that she checked in with us every week, even though it was an asynchronous class. Overall, I think this class takes more effort than it seems at first glance. There is a lot of information to learn and know for the quizzes and the practice set. Professor Woo is a good and fair professor, and I would recommend her if you have to take this class. If you are like me, however, and are just looking for something fun/useful to fill your time, I thought this class was a little too time consuming on busy work and I thought the material wasn't very exciting.
Professor Woo is the BEST professor I've had at UCLA. She is very clear and is able to cover material in a way that is very easy to understand. There were five quizzes, each 10% of your grade, and a big project that was the other 50%. Quizzes were very fair and if you did the homework and asked her questions when needed, they weren't hard. Definitely start the project as early as possible, do not wait like I did. She is VERY accessible and helpful if you ever need help. Her TA Jonathan was also great. Definitely recommend Professor Woo 100%!!!
Professor Woo is a great accounting professor! Her lectures are all prerecorded so you go at your own pace, but she provides textbook readings and homework for us to fully understand the concepts. We had a total of five quizzes, each worth 10%, of moderate difficulty. She is super helpful in office hours so don’t be afraid to go and ask questions. Discussion sections are basically optional because they’re TA office hours, so more opportunities to ask questions. We had a practice set that is worth 50% of our grade. It’s long and definitely took more than 10 hours, but very straightforward as long as you understand the concepts. This is overall a very good intro to accounting class and professor woo is the best!
She's a great professor, the only challenge is the practice set and the lack of clarity in some aspects about it. Lectures are clear and though kinda dry, you don't feel like you're suffering through them. A digital version of the textbook is available, just email me at *************
TAKE THIS CLASS! Professor Woo is such an amazing professor and she cares so much about all of her students. There are 5 quizzes, they get progressively harder, but if you do the optional homework and watch the lectures (which she provides the notes - amazing), you'll be good. The one thing that makes the quizzes pretty difficult is that there is a 20 min time limit, so make sure that you are well prepared. Also, start the practice set early. It is not difficult, but it takes a lot of time to make sure you do right. She also goes over it in office hours which I highly recommend that you attend. Overall I loved this class and am so excited to have Professor Woo for Mgmt 1B.
Professor Woo was very engaging, which is hard to achieve when learning online. Her class structure is very organized and straightforward, and she likes to make sure her students are on top of everything. The grade is based on 5 quizzes spread out throughout the quarter and a turn in final that you essentially have all quarter to do. I highly recommend taking 1A with her and am looking forward to continuing taking her classes.
