Probably interesting if you are into Greek history/mythology, but even if you're not it's a super easy GE. Never went to lecture and didn't have any problems throughout.

Professor Haselswerdt is a great professor. Her lectures are so engaging and fun. We even spent a lecture talking about the the Greek Amazonian warriors. Her class is pretty low maintenance too. You have section readings and weekly quizzes on Gradescope that you can take multiple times to get a full score. The papers are pretty fun too, and for the first paper, you get to write a poem. Honestly, if you like Percy Jackson and want to take a Greek history class take it with Professor Haselswerdt. She's awesome!

By far the best GE class I've taken. Prof H is extremely considerate towards her students and the best part is that the material she is teaching is actually interesting. Granted, I did come in with a little bit of knowledge and a previous love for Greek culture, so perhaps I enjoyed it more than the average person.

Due to COVID, she adjusted her grading scale so that it was split between 3 papers, all of the timing spaced out quite well throughout the quarter where she offers extensions on the first two, participation in discussion, and an optional final. She offers the final as a way to make up for a lacking participation grade and even includes a study guide - again, very considerate. All of the papers were fun prompts to write and really do apply what you learn from lectures and the textbook. The pace of this class is great, as she accommodates so students can view it asynchronously. Discussion sections were great as well, if you can get Collin Moat as your TA - know you will be having a good time - but any TA here should be solid. He played jazzy music and asked how everyone was doing that day before jumping into every discussion - I loved it. I had many internet problems so sometimes I would arrive a little late, but he was so understanding towards my situation. As long as you are actively engaged in the discussion, your participation grade should be good to go.

Overall, I would recommend this class to anyone who has an interest in the Greeks - whether it stems from your PJO obsession or you simply wish to broaden your horizons within the Classics department - this is the class for you. And even if you are not interested before taking this, know you'll be interested to continue learning after. Thank you Prof H. and Collin(:
