I would highly recommend taking this class with professor Ozel. Despite the occasional errors in his lecture notes, he is an extremely good lecturer. One of the greatest part of this class was the homework - he doesn't collect the homework problems so it's up to the students to decide whether to do them (but it's definitely helpful to get some practice on our own). The only shortcoming of this class was the number of exam and quizzes that he gave - there were 5 quizzes, 2 midterms and 1 final, but the nice thing is that he drops two of the lowest quizzes. Overall, I believe people would enjoy his class a lot as he is definitely one of the nicest professors in the math department.

Highly recommend Ozel -- he gives clear lectures, is very approachable, and knows the material well. I suppose the only thing prospective actuaries should be aware of is that his class doesn't completely prepare you for the actuary exam. If you want to pass any actuary exam you have to put in a hell of a lot of hours outside the classroom, and even then you still might not pass haha

Ozel is one of the best profs in the math department! Super helpful during office hours, always eager to answer questions, and a really nice guy. I’d highly recommend him and this class!
