Winter 2022 - I LOVE Eric and this class. I would take it again in a heartbeat. He is hands down one of the coolest, most down-to-earth, knowledgeable professors I've ever had. He is passionate about the content and though it is pretty emotionally heavy, he is very mindful of it and puts the needs of students and their mental health in high regard. He makes the course enjoyable and engaging. We had a hybrid structure and often used break out groups. Zoom attendance was mandatory and you were supposed to have your camera on, and you could skip one with no penalty. Assignments for each class are to annotate readings on a shared doc style website where you can respond to your classmates. Two assignments outside of this, a reading review and the final which are both papers that are very flexible. Overall, I feel like I have honestly learned a lot and the class was far from dreadful. I hope to take another one of his courses in the future (even though this isn't even my major), take him if you get the chance.
Winter 2022 - One of the best professors I have had at UCLA. He was engaging and empathetic. He valued everyone's opinions and feeling when addressing the curriculum. Created a collaborative and pluralistic environment in which everyone could voice their interpretations of the readings openly and critically.
