Professor Huhtamo shows true passion when he is lecturing about design. He has occasional interesting pictures and cool videos but they do not necessarily keep you awake during class. The class was offered on Friday at 9:30a.m-12:00. So, it was kind of hard to pay attention. The T.A's did most of the grading. There were three quizzes and they were based off of readings and lectures. Well, Professor Huhtamo chooses the 'key point' when choosing questions for his quizzes. The lowest quiz grade gets dropped, and they are worth 10% of the grade. The weekly, blogs are worth about 2.5% each. You may skip one blogging. They were usually based off of topics taught in the previous lecture. The midterm was worth 30% and it was about "how designs effect your everyday life." The final was about designing a time machine and you got to work with other students. It was also worth 30%. The design game was worth 5%. The design game was a scavenger hunt, and if you could draw a map of it. The last day of the class was the most fun because Professor Huhtamo invites many designers to lecture about their designs. Also, you must write down your name. i.d, and t.a during breaks of the lectures. They count attendance.

This was a pretty easy GE class, besides the fact that it was 9ams on Friday mornings. We get a 15 minute break in the middle around 10:30. If you take this class with a friend, it becomes a lot better.
My friends and I spent the entire lecture either amused at Huhtamo's antics and objects that he brought to class (he has billions of design-related objects that he likes to bring to lectures) or sleeping and playing games on our phones/laptops.
He turns off the lights and if you tend to stay up late on Thursdays, it can get hard but doable. If you sleep, nobody cares. Feel free to leave at the 10:30 mark because you usually sign in during break (attendance required).
The midterm is a paper from 1500-2500 words and requires articles from the course reader. Not too bad.
The final is another paper, but you can work on it with a group.
In one class, you have to do a scavenger hunt of design-related stuff at UCLA and it sucks because nobody wants to walk around and find stuff, but it's only for a couple of hours and you can leave when it's done.
Overall, lectures are interesting if you're into this kinda stuff, but he has a droning voice. But the class is pretty easy. I got an A.

Not too bad, but DEFINITELY not the easiest GE ever like some are saying. Seems less like a GE, but still not a terrible class. Worst part about this class was the midterm (don't let the fact that it is take home fool you) and the 3 hour lecture at 9am on Friday mornings.

Okay everyone keeps saying this was a laid back class.... I half agree! There wasn't hw or anything. But the midterm was terrible T_T this quarters midterm was like a 10 page , 4 prompt midterm ): Maybe the earlier years he was easy, but this quarter... I thought it was too much work for a GE. The class is a piece of cake, just the midterm was a nightmare T_T
