The class starts out difficult when you start learning about magnetism and other electricity stuff. But as soon as it shifts to optics it gets insanely easy. The homework is pretty hard but he doesn't collect it. Instead he gives quizzes based on the homework (he picks a question and gives it to you) and if you do the hw its obviously easy points. The midterms were fairly difficult as well as the final. However, he prepares you well and his optional review sessions where he goes over past exams really help. I started off not doing well in the class but I just sat down a couple days before the final and went through all my notes and all my slides and ended up clutching an A. Good professor but have to admit that when we get to the optics stuff it gets pretty hard to focus. Not my thing.

I took this class as a sophomore and it was the best grade that I got in a physics class. I think that one factor is that I didn't have AP experience and those who did so much better than me in Physics 1A and 1B, but that effect began to wear down in 1C.

* Harper's voice is so calming and relaxing but at the same time, it doesn't put me to sleep.
* Gives out practice two practice tests for each midterm and final, which were very helpful
* Goes at a very nice pace

* Weekly quizzes are stress-inducing
* In general, concepts are abstract and can get confusing

Fenner Harper is a gem of an instructor. He is extremely well-organized and has typed-up lecture notes for every single lecture. These are very concise and will save people a ton of time.

His in-class demonstrations are hilarious and engaging. At one point he was even passing very high-frequency current through his body to light a bulb he was holding (no he was not hurt at all, and do not try this at home).

He is also very helpful both inside and outside the classroom. His tests are challenging but unambiguous. He also gave 35% of people at least an A-, and 50% of people got B's.

He's possibly the best instructor one can hope to get in the Physics 1 series. Take his class.

Honestly, I wish I had gone to his class more because he was such a nice dude and pretty good lecturer! He has homework quizzes every week which aren't super bad, and the way he curves the class is amazing. 35% A's, 50% B's, and 10% C's which is so nice (I obviously did not do so hot but that's bc I never went to class). He is such a nice guy and really just wants everyone to succeed! His class isn't bruincasted but he does put all of the lecture notes and slides on CCLE for every lecture so even if you're absent it's basically like you went to class still (if you put in the work to go through and read them all). He gives you all the resources to do well. The one thing I would probably change is that I wish he did more example problems in class, but I think it's just so much material to cover he doesn't have time. Overall a solid dude and so far my favorite British professor
