Professor D'Aguiar is thoughtful and passionate about any and all forms of literary study, especially Post Colonial Studies and the Creative Writing that he teaches. But, he cultivates an environment that rewards outgoing personalities, while penalizing shyer students. He puts students on the spot, and actually pokes fun at students whose engagement is on the more passive side. He is a deeply complicated individual, and unlike any other Professor I've ever had. I would recommend his class to students who want to be rewarded for creativity and engagement, and who'd appreciate a completely spontaneous and open environment, but tell students to steer clear if they're looking for a standard, predictable, comfortable space.
Very kind. Easy A. Gave us a one-page syllabus on the first day of class. Literally no essays, two one page write-ups and then a final group project. Some readings, and that was it. With that said, it was very hard to follow his lectures. Despite this, his class is very fun and is sure to make your STEM friends jealous.
