This is for Math 32A. His accent is not that bad honestly. If you try a little harder than usual to pay attention in class, I don't think understanding him would be a problem. For this class it really is okay to skip lectures because you learn more from the book and the internet than from him. (or maybe that's because I tend to space out in class a lot) However, I am in no way encouraging it because he skips certain topics (only a few) so you won't know what will be on the tests unless you go to lecture. He is eager to help during office hours and surprisingly, not many people go. Even though the quiz questions are from the homework, he would help you until you get the right answer.
Both his midterms are not hard. They are very straightforward so truly understanding the concepts is more important than practicing with problems. Don't underestimate the difficulty of the final though. His finals were definitely among the hardest tests I have taken in my life...
So in short, he really is not as bad as most other people say. Stay on top of your class material and you will do fine!
