took hist 128C with prof.Symcox. the man is a brilliant lecturer. if you do what you are supposed to be doing, (read, take down notes) then you will do fine in his course. this class will foster a love for Italy like no other. very interesting subject matter, especially when it gets down to Berlusconi. the key to doing well in his class is to listen to his lectures and take notes in class. he doesnt allow computers or cell phones so be prepared to take write alot. go home, reorganize your notes in your laptop and print them out. this procedure will make life alot EASIER. focus on themes and write down details and dates to back them up. he is looking for analysis, not a regurgitation of facts.

I took Prof. Symcox for History of Italy 1848 to present and I can honestly say that it was one of the best classes I have ever taken. The man's love for Italy is contagious and makes the subject come alive. His depth of knowledge is incredible, and he is probably the best professor I've ever had. His lectures are really interesting and the tests are pretty difficult. Not an easy class but definitely worth taking.
