This class is a pretty easy A/A+ GE. This was my first quarter at UCLA but many people in the class were actually upperclassmen so it was cool to have such a wide variety of students taking the class. Professor Konstantopoulos is definitely knowledgeable and a funny lecturer, though it was difficult to know what to take notes on at times since she goes on many side tangents about hollywood sucking or egypt getting too much coverage in middle school history class. One important thing to know: YOU SHOULD TO GO TO LECTURE. The slides do not contain that much information often so you need Professor's commentary, which is not recorded. Also, there are occasional participation checks at the end of class, which count towards extra credit after the first or second one.
My TA was Caitlin who is super awesome and nice. This was her first time TAing this class and I think she was better than most of the other TAs. She really wanted us to succeed, but with that also came higher expectations and she graded our papers most harshly out of all TAs. Still, she graded our Midterm and Final with wanting us to get an A/A+ in mind so I highly recommend Caitlin as your TA.
Overall, a good class, not necessarily a must-take but the content is interesting and it's not too difficult.
BEST. CLASS. EVER. At first, I was confused at what the tests would cover, as we covered so much material in the first few weeks, but after the first quiz in section, it was clear that I did not need to be worried. Lectures aren't recorded and the slides that are uploaded to BruinLearn are mostly just images that she talks about in class, so it is important to go to lecture in order to actually know what's going on. Also, at the end of lecture, easy attendance checks are occasionally passed out, which are basically free points. Lecture is engaging, and Professor K is very funny and clearly passionate about the topic. Quizzes and the midterm are very straightforward and easy, and the reading responses (memes), short paper, and final paper are very manageable. Overall, the course content is extremely interesting, and if I could take this class again I would!!!
Love. Absolutely phenomenal. This class is so fun and one part of the final is using concepts from class to create your own monster. And the final is online. Absolutely amazing class and would take this class and this professor again.

One of the best GEs EVER at UCLA. Professor is so funny and engaging as a lecturer and the content is REALLY fun too! She cracks a lot of jokes during lecture :) They aren’t recorded/podcasted and the slides themselves don’t have a ton of info so go to class. It’s worth it anyway…
Assignments were super easy— we had like two discussion quizzes that were just term identifications and explaining one of the images on the slides. You also have the option of reflecting on a reading or making a meme of the course content! The final exam was also pretty easy. Definitely an easy A as long as you put in a little bit of effort.
Most fun class I've ever taken at UCLA. In addition to being a very engaging class with some seriously interesting content, this course was the easiest A I've received. Prof. Konstantopoulos is wonderfully interesting to listen to, funny, and a very clear lecturer. This class has no textbook and is not recorded meaning you NEED to go to lecture. The slides are mostly pictures and are a framework for the professor to talk through during class, so you cannot survive on just reading the slides but just go to lecture, it's fun anyway.
Two assignments the whole quarter (I chose the option to make a MEME on class content with a paragraph explaining the context for both assignments), two fairly straightforward quizzes, one five page essay on a primary source as the midterm paper, and an online final exam with the choice of essay or make your own monster/demon (of COURSE I chose the latter). Because this class places such little emphasis on grades and it's so easy to score well, I truly enjoyed the opportunity to just sit and learn about something so niche from someone who was clearly passionate about the subject.
So in case it wasn't clear enough - I really recommend taking this class!
Professor Konstantopoulos is extremely funny and nice. The lectures are super engaging, and the materials are very interesting (you get to learn how to curse your enemies! Yay!). The tests were easy, though they were more short-answers-based. Overall professor Konstantopoulos is just amazing, and I recommend everyone to take this course.
I really liked this class for a GE. The material is interesting and the tests are relatively easy. There is one midterm and 2 quizzes, all of which are fairly graded. You can earn a lot of partial credit on the free response sections, so its not the end of the world if you miss some things studying. Professor Konstantopoulos is also very kind and understanding.
This class was pretty easy but your grade depends a lot on how your TA grades your midterm/final/quizzes. The midterm was timed essays and the final was a final paper. Discussion is based on attendance and there were a couple quizzes. The quizzes were very specific and pretty much memorization of important people and key terms. Not the easiest GE but very manageable.
