This was a solid class. Giulio is very approachable and wants student to succeed. Sometimes the material can get confusing during lecture and explained poorly, so some self-studying outside of lecture is necessary (at least for me), but he is not a bad lecturer at any means. The best part about this class is that his tests are fair; the difficulty is similar to the practice exams, and they won't have anything you haven't see from the homework or practice exam. The average for the midterm was pretty high.

Side Note: I also highly recommend taking Giulio for Math 170E if you can, (I honestly think he teaches that class better than this one).

If you need to take Math 170S, take it with Giulio. His lectures are super straightforward and not to difficult to grasp. His exams were fair and were very similar to the homework. There was one midterm and a final, and you can also drop the midterm and make your final worth more. He was also very helpful during office hours when I needed some concepts to be clarified. Overall a great class.
