Very hard to do well in this class, since he offers little examples, no practice exams/review sessions and no slides or class materials all you can do is read his coursereader and hope to do well

Took his 127A and I enjoyed his class. The workload of the class was not heavy at all and his exams were fair although he combines couple of concepts together in some questions. All you need to do is just attend the class and pay attention to what hes saying and master the concepts in the reader. I didn't even read the textbook, but just studied reader and lecture note only, I still got an A. He is not a tough grader at all.

This guy sucks!! He doesn't use any slides or writes anything on the board. He just reads off the course reader which isn't that helpful when it comes to the exams. Even if you know everything in the course reader, you're still going to baffled by the exam. His midterm is worth 40% and the final is worth 60%. He left to Australia to be a judge for about 5 weeks, we had Gardner come in as a sub, and then Klein comes back in just in time to give us his midterm. Tax is hard in general and this guy makes it so much worse. I definitely would not recommend him to anyone!

Professor Klein is a very nice man, however his class was extremely difficult in my opinion. There is only a midterm and a final in the class, and his exams are very difficult. I study so much, and the problems on the exams were way more difficult than the ones in his course reader. If you enjoy tax principles and feel that you can understand it easily, take this class!! But if not, I wouldn't recommend this class.

The questions on his tests for this class are pure screwballs. He has FOUR sample mid term questions in his course reader. Other than that, you're on your own. He has TAs grade his exams. I know someone that received an error on the grading. So remember to always go over your answers after you receive your exam results. With that, be sure to be in class when he gives out the results for mid term. Had another friend that was absent during that class period. He/She went to the office hour to take a look at the exam. The TA claimed to have lost it. She was not helpful at all. Other than that, very informative class. Klein occasionally adds humor in his lectures. I personally would not take him again but if you feel that you're up for a challenge, by all means.

I took Mgmt 127A, 127B, and 120B with Klein. He is an excellent professor and one of the best that I've had at UCLA. He cares about student learning and is very open about clarifying things for students if they have questions after class. He is very knowledgeable about the subjects and keeps classes entertaining. I would not shy away from his classes based on the fact that he is challenging because he is a good teacher and gives you the tools you need to do well on his tests. My biggest recommendation for all of these classes is that you know his course reader. Really understand the concepts that he goes over. I did not buy the textbook for any of these classes nor did I read them. He only tests you on the material he covers in class so reading the book may give you a bit too much information on topics and aspects that he is not going to test you on. I did not do the problems for either tax class but I did do them for 120b but I don't really think they are necessary but they did help to confirm that I understand the concepts. I think what's different about his tests, and what makes them hard, is that they have a lot of multiple choice or short answer number problems. This means you do not get partial credit. You will never be asked to do a long problem start to finish so you can't just memorize random steps. You might be asked something from the very middle and you have to know how to pick a concept up from there and answer the problem. My final grade in all three of these classes were A+'s, so honestly he is not impossible. Best piece of advice ... Know the concepts of the course reader!!!!!
