Prof. Brygant is very clear, easy style to explain his material in his lecture. He actually talks the reading and even give you some tips before the tests. It is a one mid-term one final test system with 2 core page long essay question, and 6 choose 4 page long essay question. It is actually better for me as not a Multi-choice person. Remember to ask clear about the concept in the T.A. office hour, and his T.A. will happy tell you the thing that you don't understand.

Professor Bryant is very knowledgeable about the material and his lectures are really fun. The lecture materials are all important, so don't skip lectures. The readings are also important, but the main points he wants you to get from the readings are talked about in lecture. The midterm is 30%, the final is 30%, and the research paper is 40%. The research paper is an analysis of a 10-minute conversation that you record and transcribe. Overall, it's a good class with interesting material taught by an enthusiastic, fun professor who knows what he's talking about.

this professor is simply one of my favorite. he is straightforward, honest, and the material is interesting. we are asked to think critically, not simply throw up what we memorize from repeated exposure. his lecture style is energized and exciting to listen to. he is clearly passionate about the material and his lectures draw you into the subject. that alone will make all the difference in the world in how well you understand the material and perform on the exams. great professor, would take again.

Comm 120 will most likely be unlike other comm classes you've taken, as it has a more anthropological focus. The first half deals with evolutionary psychology, such as how altruism evolved in humans. The second half focuses on applying those evolutionary theories to everyday things like gossip, conversational group formation, and music. Overall I considered it a welcome break from the mass-media perspectives of other Comm classes. It turned out to be more enjoyable and interesting than I thought it would be. Recommended if you are tired of talking about the media or law.

Grade-wise, you have a midterm and final (non-cumulative) with a couple short answer (<1 bluebook page) and a choice between essay questions. No tricks, straightforward stuff from lectures and readings (which almost always overlap). The other part of your grade is a final project where you record a 10 minute group conversation (not including yourself) and then apply things you've learned into the class to analyze it. Can be creative and fun if you want it to be. The only miserable part is transcribing the conversation (you have to be precise, get all the "umms" stuttering, overlap, etc. You have the whole quarter to do it, though, so take advantage of that and get the transcribing out of the way early. The day you turn the paper in is nonstress, as he invites a music professor and his students to perform jazz improv in class. Overall, a class worth taking.

Bryant is super straightforward. If you take good lecture notes and know them like the back of your hand, you will get an A in this class. He does not try to trick you and the material is comprehensive. I will definitely take another of Bryant's classes; I really enjoyed him. You don't need to buy the course reader-- everything comes from lecture. I highly recommend this class and this professor.

The class was kinda boring at times but overall I am glad I took it. Professor Bryant was real nice and friendly, and while the midterm and final seemed rather overwhelming he really broke down in review what to focus on when it came to studying. First part of the class has alot of biology related material but it gets more interesting in the second half of class when the material focuses more on interpersonal communication. The paper, was a hassle though, I am glad that part is over with!

This is not your average group communication. It isn't like group communication class I have ever taken. I felt like I was in a science class, not a communication class. The material of this class really disappointed me and Bryant's lectures are way too fast. He needs to slow down, and he doesn't explain things very clearly. He also has an arrogance to him that I did not find appealing either. Overall, I would not recommend taking this class or professor. But on the flip side, I do know some people who absolutely love him. So, it really is a matter of taste.
