Quarter: Spring 2023
Grade: A+
Sept. 3, 2023

Took Adv New Genres with Professor Rosales for the last quarter of my last year at UCLA undergrad.

In my opinion, WORST professor in my whole 4 years at UCLA, extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate towards her students' time, and to students with and without UCLA's CAE disability-related accommodation. I had the most depressing and soul-crushing experience being in her class as a student who is a commuter and who has CAE/disability-related status.

I have never met an instructor, teacher, educator who had such a absurd student expectations and class agenda considering how irresponsible she is to her own class, her own words, and her students.

Throughout the quarter she has DITCHED/CANCELED (5-10min prior) her own class FOUR TIMES without prior notice to her students while still having the TA to take attendance. The third absence being a MIDTERM PRESENTATION that she told everyone to show up to, where students and myself showed up EXTRA EARLY to install works. On the day of the midterm, she sent out an email at class's start time to a few, not all, students that class is canceled, but lo-and-behold, she still had the TA showed up later on to TAKE ATTENDANCE of students regardless of class being canceled...

On top of everything, she has the audacity to email me and say I've missed class five times even though I have communicated each heads-up to her beforehand with CAE's support. And one of the absences, was apparently because of me heading home after she canceled class on midterm day! It's insane!

I also had a CAE/disability-related accommodation request when taking her class. Professor Rosales agreed to give me remote accommodation at the beginning of the quarter to stream some of the classes through Zoom, but then stalled the whole process for over a month despite me sending multiple reminders until I had to email the Dean of Students, Department Counselors, and Department supervisors.

And even after getting a schedule for the accommodation she promised, she still is giving me last-minute schedule changes, making it extra difficult for me to show up in-person. I ended having to contact the Dean of Students, Department Counselors, and Department supervisors for the second time for this. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

At the end of the quarter and class instructions. She took almost 3 weeks since class ended to upload students' final grades.

In my opinion, if you want your mental health and your time respected as a mere human being, don't take any classes with this “professor”. It only worsens your stress and headaches. It was such a torture to me to have taken this class during my last quarter at UCLA.
