Quarter Taken: Winter 2018 Submitted April 2, 2019 Grade Received: N/A

Great class for learning cutting edge material from the researchers themselves. This quarter the TAs were probably the most subpar of any in my experience at UCLA. Guest lecturers were hit and miss. It was challenging to study for the final because of the ambiguous nature of the course. Professor was relatively helpful. Did well but there were times I had no idea what was going on. Not the best and not the worst. If disorganization bothers you stay away.

Pro:
-relatively straightforward upper div
-felt more like a seminar due to all of the guest lecturers
-opportunity to be exposed to different types of research and scientists at UCLA
-Dr. Mikkola is pretty nice and helpful
Con:
-slightly repetitive from what I've already learned in other MCDB classes
-because there were guest lecturers every week or so, you have to get use to each person's lecturing style
-not recorded

Quarter Taken: N/A Submitted April 23, 2013 Grade Received: N/A

4 weeks into the class and there really hasn't been a whole lot of information I've learned about stem cells that I haven't learned/touched on in other MCDB classes. It seems like its starting to get good, but if you take this class prepare yourself for a repetitive first 3 weeks. I can't say that its anyone's fault though the class really shows you how little we know about stem cells.
