professor Calderon is very knowledgeable, but he does not make a concerted effort to pass this knowledge on to the class. I use a mayuscula for professor because he thinks a lot of himself and needs to be brought down a peg. His lectures can be interesting, but in a class of fifty people his mumbling hardly exceeds even the shuffling of papers. He is more interested in the sound of his own voice than actually helping the students comprehend Chicano Literature, much less take steps to learn something for themselves. He wants them to simply regurgitate what he has said in class, instead of using their independent thinking skills to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the movement. His exams are really easy, but I think this is mostly out of his desire not to actually do any work in grading them. Do not take his class!

Calder\333n is a very interesting person and professor also! He really puts a lot of effort into his Chicano M145B class and is truly passionate about his lectures. Even though he is softspoken he does a great job of delivering his message! The not so great thing are his exams! We had an in- class midterm and final and that was it, so 50% and 50%. From personal experience I can say that he is one of the hardest graders in the Spanish Department. He expects a very well written essay and doesn't really talk about the test ahead of time. So you kind of just have to be prepared on your own. Also he can be somewhat picky on personal interpretations regarding the texts so be careful on what you write!
