This professor was a nice guy and really new, so definitely don't be afraid to take 1B with him. I don't know his grade distribution yet, but judging off mine and others' grades I assume his scheme was extremely generous. I don't really feel like my grade accurately reflects my knowledge on Physics 1B, but I did feel that this class gave me a good baseline knowledge of everything to prepare me adequately enough moving forwards. Overall, as a professor he seems like a genuine guy, and the class was pretty easy.

I'm not sure if my review is similar to others, but I found the lecture and the professor to be unhelpful for my grades, and the midterms and final were unpredictable to me (I got a 61/100 on the first midterm, a 98/100 on the second, and 100/100 on the final (i was shook lol)). After the first midterm I realized the tests had nothing to do with the derivations and proofs he'd do in class, and I just couldn't focus during lecture (maybe I'm just not a morning person?). So I basically stopped going and I also don't go to office hours, but I would never miss a homework set and I'd take thorough notes of each unit in Kudu. To study for tests, I'd look over the notes, make the cheat sheet, then do every practice set, then every homework set. It seemed to work? In general, you can tell Hector's new to teaching this class, but he seems like a reasonable and nice person.

Having previously taken physics in high school, I did not learn anything new from this class. Everything covered was very surface level, so don't expect to be able to actually understand Physics as a result of this class. He did do some derivations and examples in class, but generally everything you needed to know for the test would be on Kudu. I didn't really show up to class and generally did not miss anything important. When I did show up, it was pretty useless, as he is not great at explaining. He was also very generous with extra credit (up to 5% through participation in in-class Kudu questions, though this may change since this was originally required participation). We had very easy exams. The first midterm had a lower average, but in my opinion was not actually that bad. It was a time crunch and I didn't finish, but most of the questions were pretty similar to the ungraded homework problems that he gave us. The TAs were also pretty generous with partial credit. Since the first exam had low averages, he gave us a very easy second midterm and final. Essentially, if you do his ungraded homework problems and practice them when you're studying, you'll do fine on the exams.
