Loved her as a person and lecturer. She does assign wayyyy too many readings and its hard for students to keep up with the workload when in other classes. She assigns 3 essays and weekly reflections all on different readings, many including novels she expects you to read and discuss in class. It is easy to get lost in this class. I wish we focused more on 2 maybe 3 novels in this class at most. She is also very unorganized she gave us 5 assignments in one week because she forgot to upload them. Although the due dates are extremely flexible it is stressful since its quarter system.

professor is such a sweet person and really cares about you understanding the material, which she is clearly very passionate about. she is more than willing to accommodate you when it comes to turning in assignments late, just let her know with time. often, she would let us students vote on how we wanted things to work for the class. we had one 5 page paper about a documentary series, which is not graded harshly as long as you actually put in the work. this is simple enough since all you have to do is a 1/2 page summary and 1/2 page analysis/reflection on 5 1-hour videos about Indigenous history in the U.S. Then we had the midterm exam, which ended up being a take home that we had one week to do, in which you choose to analyze 6 out of 11 different images that are all discussed thoroughly in class, and you must incorporate the readings from the course into these analyses. this took me a long time since i hadn't done any of the readings and had to go back and go over them, but also not graded harshly. attendance is part of your grade as well, so make sure to go to lecture. the material itself is interesting and not hard to digest. the last part of your grade is a presentation along with a 5-page paper that is basically just reiterating your presentation. the presentation is about contemporary indigenous representations, and you choose between a couple of different themes, such as photography and film, to delve into in a 10 minute presentation. i actually really enjoyed this project, it wasn't hard to research and as long as you put a good effort into it you'll get full credit. great class, not high stakes, would take again!
