Took 5B with him. Got an A by reading every page of the textbook and doing all the problems in the back. We were given 50 mins per midterm but I only needed 25-30 due to extensive practice beforehand. He goes strictly by the book, its problems, and examples. The final is very different and not textbook based. It was more conceptual and difficult thinking problems.
Scores: m1: 100%, m2: 100%, final: 69% lol
This is a review for Physics 5B.
Jiang is okay, his lectures were neither really good nor really bad for me. Wasn't a huge fan of Physics 5B in general. I felt it had a lot of random, confusing, disconnected topics. As with Physics 5A, a lot of the labs were confusing and annoying, but ultimately doable.
The most important thing for Jiang's class is to read the textbook chapters before the exams and understand ALL of the practice problems. He takes practice problems straight from the textbook and puts them on the exam. He lets you make a notecard for the exams, so even write down the equations used to solve each practice problem for any you find particularly confusing! It will definitely come in handy if he decides to use that problem.
I would not say I am particularly good at physics or 5B, I believe I just got an A- because I put a lot of time into understanding the textbook problems and copying confusing ones onto my notecard. So make sure you do the same.
Midterm 1: (20%)
Avg=75
Me=75
Midterm 2:(20%)
Avg=85
Me= 95
Final: no clue (35%)
Grade: A-
I screwed up 1 of the questions in midterm 1 (lost 20 pts) and ended up with A-
Final quite a bit harder than midterms, especially midterm 2 was really easy. But note that the Avg was really fking high.
I'm pretty sure these questions will appear in final ---> angular momentum, wavelength, KE, PE and total Energy of the electron of hydrogen atom with given energy level. Make sure you know how to calculate these all.
Prof. Jiang is so entertaining! He is a naturally funny person and a dynamic speaker. He gets very enthusiastic about the material, and is truly concerned about student learning. His explanations are clear and very helpful, and his midterm questions are taken straight from the HW problems. His final was very difficult, but I'd still recommend him. He's a great way to end the physics series.:)
Prof. Jiang is SO cute & funny!~ His lectures were clear & he really cares about student learning. You're allowed a whole pg of equations for both midterms, which is more than enough. His midterms are ridiculously easy: all you have to do is do the homework problems b/c sometimes he takes the exact problem & puts it on his test. I heard his finals were hard, but that's only in comparison to his midterms. His final was NOT HARD at all, but it does require that you understand the concepts & topics rather than j/plug & chug. I would absolutely recommend Jiang for physics~
