SCHROEDER was a pretty good professor. Mimg 101 is a tough class because so much material is covered. Her test questions can be pretty difficult...the first midterm was probably the toughest. She lectures using powerpoint which can be boring at times. She's extremely concerned with student learning and tries to help as much as she can.

She's pretty good. I found her accent the reason I stayed awake (twice), its so perky. Once Gansalus started teaching though, I stopped even TRYING to go to class because there was no hope to stay awake. But with Shroeder I at least has a fighting chance. Powerpoint slides are my worst enemy though. So I know she's still a good teacher, it's just me. Don't be afraid to take her.

I enjoyed all of Dr. Schroeder's lectures, she made every point clear and supplemented her powerpiont slides with overheads of experiments that helped to explain the concepts. I found that I got through the class successfully with out having to read the book. As long as you fully understand the lecture the tests are easy. I found the material to be very interesting and I wish that she did not have to split the lectures with Dr. Gansalus.

To me, schroeder was a professor that I would forget very quickly. Just as many other microbio professors, she posts up powerpoint slides and go over them in class (Which is fine). At first I thought that I didn't particularly found her great because I didn't like bacteriology. However, when Lazazzera took over the second half of the class, I found the material to be more interesting, because Lazazzera went over experimental processes instead of dry facts.
Her test questions weren't particularly great either. Some of the questions were rather confusing, and though the microbio dept tries to move towards move "problem-solving" based tests, I don't feel that the tests neccessarily test for your understandings and applications of the material. And of course, many people agree that compare to 102, which also has problem-solving/experimental design based tests, the grading in 101 is generally pretty strict.
