Good professor, explains materials fairly clear. But the workload is extremely heavy, and the quizzes particularly annoying. Spent over 20 hours each week on homework, reviewing for quizzes and final, but when you get through them, you learn a lot.

The professor is obviously very smart, and the midterms were extremely fair (exact homework problems). Workload was about 15 questions per week which took 6-8 hours. His lectures were straight from the book, but he learned our names and was overall nice. Biggest gripe was grading scale: 5 for perfect, 4 for minor mistake, 2 for multiple mistakes, 0 otherwise. Homeworks averaged 70% and final I got a D- but still ended with A-. Be prepared to study.

Neeman is a great prof, take this class.

Took non-honors in Winter 23. Class is hard but Neeman is very nice and willing to answer questions. Midterms have content pulled directly from homework, while the final had lots of curveballs. I scored a raw 80% on the midterms, below 70% on the final, and ended up with a B, so it seems that there is a lenient curve. Five homework questions are graded on accuracy every week. Homework grading was strict but this was helpful since the TA James did a great job pointing out errors in our proof-writing. Overall interesting class with a seemingly kind grading scheme.

131A (not honors). The homework assignments are lengthy which eat up a lot of time, and require going to office hours to seek help. The midterm questions came directly from the homework so as long as you study the right questions it is possible to do well. The final was cumulative and covered some early topics which threw most of the class off. The professor makes sure to explain topics and pauses for questions regularly. Overall, the professor is helpful and wants you to succeed, while the material itself is the real challenge.

This is not an easy class. If you take it, it will consume your life. He is a set theorist, so he cares about every little detail. Everything must be cited in your homework. That being said, by the end you learn a heck of a lot of analysis. If you take this class, know what you are getting into. Also, he likes to construct the reals. I liked it although it was tough, but not all teachers do this as I have heard. If you aren't into that, construction of reals is a fundamental part of the class.
