This class is based on your TA. I believe Professor Araiza is just the supervising instructor so you never meet him. My TA was Natalia Noble. She was great. I definitely recommend her. This course is an elective that non-majors take for units or for "fun," with a sprinkle of theater students. Overall, this class was enjoyable and completely manageable.

The class is structured based on your TA but regardless I had a lot of fun in this class. My TA created assignments that were engaging and challenging and she was amazing. Be prepared to memorize and perform monologues, scenes, and possibly improv. This class assesses your skills in character development, creating character objectives and obstacles, and it requires you to put in work and try your best. It will get you out of your comfort zone for sure!

This was my favorite class I've taken at UCLA!!! Take this class if you have any interest in theater (it's for non-majors), want to gain confidence, want to become a better public speaker, etc. It's so much fun and a great break from the stress of other classes. This class is taught entirely by a TA and there's only ~20 students in the class, so it becomes an intimate, safe space to be yourself. I had Jessica Toltzis as my TA and she was amazing. Honestly, if you are even just thinking about taking this class- just do it! You won't regret it. (and it's a nice GPA boost if that helps :)

I took Theatre 20 with Annalise Staudt, who was the T.A. for the class (you don't get to meet the professor for this course since it's all led by your TA). Annalise is super engaging and energetic, which is absolutely necessary since this is an acting class. It is completely ok if you don't know much about theater or have never acted in your life before, since Annalise will walk you through anything you need to learn. Don't be late though. She does take attendance seriously, which makes sense since late people can disrupt the dynamic of the group or scenes that are being displayed. The class consists of memorizing short scenes from plays and performing them in front of the class as well as small papers here and there. The class ends with a final performance performed in front of other Theatre 20 classes. One of the most fun classes ever, great GPA booster, and super enjoyable. Highly recommend the class and Annalise as a TA.

Great class and would definitely recommend to anyone even though it's not a GE. I had Brett Calo as a TA and he was wonderful!

This was probably one of my favorite classes at UCLA so far. With this class, you'll never meet the professor, so these reviews are primarily based off of what TA you had. I had Kendra and she was so much fun and overall a great person and TA. Grades haven't come out yet, but I most likely got an A or A+. Overall, 10/10 class, definitely take it!!

The class is led by TA instructors. Professor lays out what to teach but all the teaching is done by the TA.

I was taught by Vivian Rubio. She was excellent.
Attendance is required. Papers are really generously graded. Really easy papers.

Just memorize some lines and learn how to act.

She is a sweet and generous teacher.

Highly recommended.

Easy class.
