Ok, seriously, what is the deal with all the bashing of this professor!?! The lecture was not exactly the most invigorating experience, but the topic matter was interesting enough and the class was a walk in the park, so I'm not one to complain. While it may seem like the class has the potential to be difficult (a ten page paper and a final worth 60% of your grade), the professor is very straightforward about what she wants and if you follow these simple instructions and the paper is somewhat interesting you get an A. As for the final, the textbook is so thin and has a lot of good info, and as long as you read and take notes in class, there's not much to stress over. But hey, if you'd prefer a rigorous course with tons of reading and tests, this is not the one for you. But if you need to kill those upper division GE's and don't want to stress, this is definitely the class for you!

1) Prof.Goodchild's class seems easy.
2) Some lecture materials are interesting.
3) But your grade is depend on TA.
4) And the TA is an idiot.

Do you want to take this class??? Ask your self..

Hey, give yourself a favor and don't take this class.
she never seemed to had answers for questions arose in class and was never concerned about her teachings. Her papers and the exam were graded by the TA but it wasn't graded effectively.
I don't think she even cared about students' learning... she just wasted time trying to repeat herself over and over again.
As far as the grading, it's pretty much unpredictable when you don't learn much in class. I wonder how she can come up with questions for the final when she didn't teach anything throughout the whole quarter. This makes the class confusing and difficult to determine your grade even during the 10th week of class.

She is the worst professor I've had at UCLA. It seems she doesn't even want to teach nor care about students. TA is an idiot. What's the point, can't argue your grade, she doesn't care. Better time spent not going to lecture. What a waste.

The material was quite interesting..she wasn't all that bad as everyone says she is...there were 2 papers--which are pretty easy to do...but everyone says its easy to get an A on those papers..well it just depends on who your TA is because the TA does all the grading and Goodchilds doesn't. But as long as you do the required stuff for the paper the lowest you can get is an B- or something...No midterm..but the final is quite easy..didn't buy the books..just make sure you go to lecture cuz most of the questions on the final is from lecture. Try looking for past lecture notes, those help...
