Tests were HARD, involving extreme specificity and memorization of population details in different countries. There was no section, which some may see as a plus, but I felt made it easy to fall behind. Professor Goodwin-White was nice and approachable, but somewhat disorganized, with the syllabus constantly disappearing off of the website, slides going missing/being uploaded late, etc. The lectures weren't very engaging or helpful, and the slides usually just consisted of screenshots of graphs, tables, etc. I felt sometimes like I was better off reading the textbook than going to class. I would take another class if you could.
I strongly advise you NOT to take this class. Professor Goodwin was completely disorganized from the beginning until the end of the quarter. She often had technical issues which then caused her to rush though most of the lecture. Most of her slides were unhelpful and at times barely explained them with clarity. On top of also rushing through her lectures, she also found herself getting off topic very easily which took out time of the class. The midterm and final were honestly guessing games since they were nothing like the study guide she provided. The study guide composed of broad things to study and 3 mcqs for reference. The exams were multiple choice with the hardest questions ever and the same 3 easy mcqs from the study guide. Although at times she was kind, when asked questions, Professor Goodwin was a bit condescending and personally I felt more comfortable asking the TA questions. Please just save yourself the stress and take another class.
