Professor Choi has so far been my favorite instructor at UCLA. Since the class is smaller, she gets to know each students name and checks to make sure each student is supported in their learning. I joined a week late, and she was so kind and helpful about catching up. She really wanted for us to be able to take the class, even next semester, so she was very accommodating. She responded fast to emails and made sure she was available to help students that were struggling in the class. For the course itself, I really enjoyed how it was set up. Not having discussions made it a lot easier to fit into my schedule. The only (personal) issue I had with the course was that I thought it was hard to actually practice Korean mainly because everyone in the class was actually Korean and I was not so I was more self conscious about how I sounded. Again, that was just me, so I would definitely take this class if you can.
My favorite professor on campus. very kind and very good at explaining concepts. Just as long as you put in a little effort you will surely do well in the class, I have 100% no doubt.
Prof: Professor Choi has to be one of the kindest professors I’ve had at UCLA. She really makes you feel comfortable in the class and about learning Korean. I really recommend taking Korean 1A with her if you have the option. There is a lot of independent practice/study because it is a language, but I highly recommend taking it with Choi if you can.
Class: The class is not bad, there is homework lecture activities (which are assignments you do at a given time of the day, the online portion of the class). There are lesson tests in class some projects but overall, this class is not going to be your stressor, it shouldn’t. Just enjoy the class and enjoy learning Korean.
