If I had a choice to take this professor for math, I would definitely take him again! I took his Math 3A class fall 08 and once you get used to his class (style of teaching and know how/what to study for his tests), you'll do fine. His tests are very reasonable and my ta was very generous with partial credit. I bombed the first midterm, studied alot for the second and got 48/50! His lectures are organized and clear. It's definitely possible to get an A in his class. My recommendation is to do all the odd bookwork problems and make sure you understand the problems he does as examples during lecture (there's a good possibility it will appear on the exam) and, know the general concepts (there was about 1-2 concept question on the final). I did all of that and got a high A on the final. And I'm not a "math person", I didn't even take the AP calc exam in high school because I knew I was going to fail, and I did very well in his class!

If you have taken math a long time ago. Or did not take AP math in high school, don't take this guy. He explains things like its review, and you're supposed to know things. For me the material was not hard since i had taken Ap calc, and for the class i was using my notes from my that high school course. However, a few friends who hadnt taken calculus at all in high school, wow!!! it was PAINFULLL... his tests arent easy at all, they are quit difficult actually and if you're taking this course with many former AP calc students, you're gonna be screwed cus the average ends up being way too high. Like i said i did good in the classs because i already knew the material, yet still i neeeded to study my a** off to get above the avergae on the tests, but for the people that were taking calculus for the first time, no matter how much they practiced they couldnt ever get anything close to the average.. hes not the worrst but hes definitely a below average prof

I absolutely hate him.
I emailed him first week to ask him a serious question about my situation in the class and if I could come and speak with him outside of office hours (as I had a class then) and he NEVER replied. EVER.
He was the most unapproachable, rude, passive-aggressive teacher I have ever had. My friends said the class was really easy, but they went to legit high schools and had AP calc. I, on the other hand, was coming in with little/no calc background and I died. I did horribly on every test. I studied by butt off for the final and got a C. But it was painful.
NEVER take him if you don't know calculus really well already. He managed to confuse me about stuff that I knew.

The class was pretty simple since I'd taken AP Calc, but seriously, if I hadn't, I would not have done well in the class. I felt that Professor Weinstein made everything MUCH more complicated than it needed to be. He's also a little passive aggressive, so watch out for that. Overall, it's a pretty simple class material-wise; just don't rely on the the prof or the TA to actually 'teach' you.
