Sladeck is one of the best professors I've had at UCLA. The writing requirements aren't bad for an upper-div history class, it's one 5 page paper, one 3 page paper and a final 8–10 page paper, with plenty of time to work on all of them. He has specific requirements for essays but they're super reasonable (it's all stuff like actually making an argument in your paper and using footnote citations). Also he was accommodating with the fires, including pushing paper due dates back. Reading was only like 50 pages/week and he posts all readings on Canvas (so they're free) except for the one (1) book, which you don't even read all of. Overall highly recommend this class as long as you've written a college paper before.
