Professor Harris is a nice guy. The class itself is largely memorization-based, so there isn't much in the way of problem-solving or deep critical thinking which may be less interesting for some. Attendance is extremely important, however, due to almost daily 2-point quizzes which are graded rather harshly by the TA and compose 10% of your grade.

Professor Harris is really the nicest person around. He's funny, accommodating, and cares about his students. The class itself is very intersectional, and it incorporates psychology, linguistics, and cognitive science. There is a steady stream of work to be done throughout the class, but it's relatively simple if you keep up with the work. Sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming, but Professor Harris makes sure that everyone feels capable of doing the work. Participation and attendance are important, but as long as you come to class the material should be easy to keep up with.

This class is great. Jesse is great. The content is great. The readings are great. Seriously, if you're any kind of Ling major, take this class. He has quizzes every lecture, but he gives you the sheet of questions in the previous lecture, and the answers are either in the lecture/slides or easily accessible in the reading. He drops your two lowest quiz scores, once before the midterm, and once after. There are *weekly* lab assignments, but he also drops the lowest of these. Jesse is super helpful and accessible, and really wants his students to enjoy his class and be able to complete all the work. The workload is not bad at all, and if it's way too much for too many people, he will adjust it. The readings are super engaging, and I personally loved the material. It's interdisciplinary, so I'm never bored (Which is a rarity). Seriously, take this class if you want a fun upper div ling elective, or you're interested in Ling research. 10/10 would recommend.

He looks like a blend between Tyler Hoechlin and Andrew Garfield.

Jesse is great! He's pretty funny in class too, so you won't get bored. He doesn't allow laptops unless there's a medical reason to need them, so you really have to pay attention. His quizzes are fairly easy because he gives you a lost of questions and the quiz will be one of them. His exams let you choose which questions to answer too, so there's less panic. Great professor, would recommend.

Jesse is my favorite professor in the linguistics department. This class is really well organized and put together; the quizzes and homework perfectly prepare you for the exam so that you don't need to cram. His exams never try to trick you and are very straightforward. The lectures are always interesting and engaging; I was never bored.
