Doesn't use bullet points so hard just to look over powerpoint without going to lecture. Grading is too hard for this university. Professor OK guy and give lecture without any notes. Just too difficult exams.

Class is not that bad. Agnew is funny and his lectures are interesting. I feel like I learned quite a lot. Your grade really just depends on how much you study and the easiness of your TA's grading. The book Agnew makes you buy is 100% not worth it. Don't buy, it's just supplemental reading. You have to pay attention to what he says because you're not being tested on just the powerpoint info. If you just study the powerpoint and never go to class or pay attention in class you'll fail.

Great professor, super entertaining and knowledgeable. Major downside though it's a GPA killer bc the TA's grade super hard and the exams are unnecessarily difficult for a pretty basic intro class.

This class was by far the worst I have ever taken at this school. TA's grade extremely hard for no reason. The lectures are dry. The material is not specific. You must know everything, and specifically if you want to do well on the tests (which are NOT curved). Don't kill your GPA for this class.

This class was challenging but you just need to make sure to pay attention to keywords in the powerpoints/ course reader. The midterm and final are free response so make sure to include key words in your answers! Agnew is very knowledgable and the subject in itself is super interesting!
I got the course reader for $40 but am selling for $10 if anyone needs it! *************

This was one of the most interesting classes I've taken! Even if you're not a global studies major this information is very applicable and useful. Generally, the tests were a bit challenging bc the TAs looked for specific keywords on the test for you to get full points. The slides are very helpful when studying and the course reader gives examples that help you understand the material so you can complete the short answer and essay portions of the midterm and final. There are only 2 tests so make sure you don't rely on just the final to keep your grade up!
I'm selling the course reader for $10 if anyone needs it! *************

This class was alright. The material was pretty interesting but the way Agnew presents it all is sort of confusing. His lectures aren't linear and he often goes off on little tangents. It's sometimes hard to distinguish which material is real important to note down and which is not. I didn't buy the course reader. It wasn't entirely necessary because you could find most (not all) of the readings online. Grades were made up of a midterm, final, and discussion participation. The midterm was a little difficult. The class average was a 76 so none of us we're doing that great. I think it's because of the variation in how the TAs grade in addition to the fact that there was just so much material to remember. I felt like the final exam was much easier and a lot of the questions were exactly the same as the ones featured on the online test bank. I would just recommend you study for this class and you should be okay.

This class was okay. The exams are marked by your TAs so they can be graded harshly. The professor is an expert in his field but his presentations don't always provide concrete answers for the exam. If you take this class, go to TAs office hours and get extra help since they mark the exams.

This class was okay. Agnew is an expert in the subject but not an expert teacher. He uses slides, posts them, and podcasts his lectures, however the lectures are not linear and can be hard to follow. The material was rather interesting to me as a Global Studies major, but it was hard to understand what exactly we were supposed to be taking away from the lectures. The class is basically only a midterm and a final, with a 10% participation grade from discussion. There are many of his midterms in the test bank which are super helpful and made the midterm easy, but the final was hard. Overall I guess I liked the class but didn't really like Agnew as a professor.

This class was fine. You're responsible for about 2.5 hours of lecture each week, he never asks anything about the readings so don't even bother with those, and discussion is really just an attendance grade. He definitely rambles and it can be hard to pick out what material is important and what isn't but it usually follows what's written on his slides. Make sure you're familiar with the graphs he posts, especially the ones he spends time talking about. His tests are mostly just recall and definition questions. It sucks that the grading is so different for different TA's but mine was really lenient. Overall the material in this class isn't difficult, the hard part is pulling out the important information from each lecture and being able to synthesize it all, but if you're usually pretty good at that kind of stuff you'll do great in this class
