Dr. Skirius is very knowledgeable about the subject matter, often adding relevent background information sothe students get a better understanding of the context in which the texts were written. He introduced me to some authors i never would have read if i wasn't in this class, and who have become some of my personal favorites. The format of the class is boring, he sits at the front and goes over the readings. However, it is not necessary to go to every class. It's easy enough to get and A as long as you do the readings and are able to write about the themes he provides.

prof. Skirius is quite boring: instead of going over the themes and ideas in the texts, he focuses on the details in the reading, probably trying to figure out whether people have actually read them. The amount of reading for Span. 142was enormous and half of it unnecessary, because it is impossible to remember all of it anyway. And porf. Skirius is no good at helping you rememebr anything. I'm not sure if anyone else teaches this class, but if there is someone else, take it with them.

I agree with others that he is knowledgeable BUT, it doesnt make sense why he assigns so much reading, and then goes over it word for word during lecture. His class is also VERY boring!! He seems like he has no desire to teach.. I expected a lot more from this class. Also, when the class asked what the layout of the midterm was like he wasnt specific and blew us off and ended up having to curve the midterm because people did so bad.
