The best Asian Dad energy. Take it with 20B if possible, and if you do the work you should get an A. Also you should share the lab manual with someone in a different lab so you don't have to pay as much -- it doesn't seem like you need it for anything besides during the lab and for homework

Excellent course, Pang is very kind and straight to the point. He is one of my fav professors. I'm also selling an XL lab coat that's flame resistant. Text **********!

The overall class is pretty easy in terms of what we learn in class. However, the lab reports really depend on your lab partner. A bad partner can kill your GPA even if the grading scheme is very friendly.

king energy. I mean tbh I barely interacted with him this since he just posted slides with audio, but I know he's a chiller. I mean the labs weren't the most fun thing in the world, but they were solidly easy enough. Just don't procrastinate THAT BAD and you'll be fine.

I think my one word of advice is to try to get an easy TA. You can't know for sure how difficult one is until it's too late, but sometimes it's easy enough to get a sense if they'll be a harsh grader.

Pang is an absolute legend. I have never encountered a professor or teacher that gives such clear instructions and expectations, and it's so refreshing. It never once felt like he was asking me a question that he didn't prepare me for which was very nice. At least online, lectures were in the form of a PowerPoint with voice recordings on each slide, and they were good and were very relevant to the homework and lab reports. Online labs are kinda boring, but they were never too annoying because of Pang's great instructions. The workload for this class felt a little high for a 3 unit class, with a week's work being an hour of lecture, about an hour on homework, around 3-4 hours on a lab report, and 1 hour on live zoom with a TA, but it wasn't anything crazy. The midterm and final were basically like long homework assignments. Would definitely recommend. If you can read and follow directions, you will get an A.

Honestly I learned more through his lectures than in my actual chem 20B class. If you plan ahead, this class will be easy. A regular week consists of 2 assignments. Some assignments are LONG, like 5-6 hours long. His assignments are easy just time consuming. The tests are fair and open book, I personally got a B and A on the two tests. Great prof and great class. Highly recommend.

Pang was excellent! There were a lot of assignments (weekly homework and weekly-ish labs) but they were all pretty straightforward. The lab reports could be time consuming but probably much less than if the class was in person, and they were pretty easy to do. The lectures made so much sense. They should've been review for whatever we learn(ed) in Chem 20B but honestly they taught me everything so much better.

Pang was also SUPER considerate that everything was weird right now, and even extended due dates when they fell on the day of 20B midterm. Super nice guy, good class, I would definitely recommend :)

Pang is super chill. He's very nice and a super clear and concise teacher. The class is a lot more work than I had anticipated (probably about 8 hours a week outside of class) and graded on accuracy to significant digits. This was a challenge for me as it wasn't something I was used to, but Pang was very fair. The labs are really easy, usually over in 45 minutes, and just a worksheet that wasn't graded. The grade breakdown is 69% hw, participation, and lab reports, 5% writing assignment (easy easy and could get extra credit if you got >16/20), 12% midterm, and 14% final. I would suggest finding someone to check your VLRs and HWs with. This is super helpful in making sure you understand concepts correctly and are getting the same sigfigs. Definitely helped me make sure I understood things well. Other than that, Pang is very clear and helped bc I was overlapping with 20B, kind, and fair. He's not very helpful with late submissions, but if you have a nice TA, they'll give you full credit for late work. But take Pang anyway he's a g.

Excellent professor and very nice, I would love to meet him in person. Workload was light and fairly lenient (one homework per week which consisted of about 3/4 page of writing, and one-ish lab per week which consisted of several (5-6?) pages each, mostly easy algebra but some conceptual bits too, nothing too complex; also one "writing assignment" which was only about 300 words and mostly conceptual).
Lectures came in the form of a powerpoint with his voice recorded over it (ie download the ppt and click a speaker icon to hear), which I initially hated but now I'm neutral on.
The class is probably more work when in person because we basically didn't have to do the actual experiments; a TA did the experiments and recorded the relevant bits, and we would take the data from the video. He recommends you use excel instead of google drive/google sheets for the labs and I agree with him on that but can't really give a reason why I like it better. The school does provide free access to ms office BTW.
Absolutely would take his class again.
