Although I appreciate Professor Sanchez's humor and care for her students, I think this course should have included more theoretical background or at least intuition. Most of this class, especially toward the end, was copying-and-pasting code and then modifying it. I felt that I did not learn much about why we're using the code we are using and how the time series analysis methods work. Even the interpretation of the code results could have been explained better. I often had to look at online resources like this one to supplement my in-class knowledge: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvcbYUQ5t0UHOLnBzl46_Q6QKtFgfMGc3.
The first two or three weeks of the course were fine, but as soon as we started learning about ACF and PACF, things started going downhill. I had no idea what the ARIMA model was for a long time, and ACF And PACF material were tested on Quiz 1 even though most of us did not understand what was going on. I felt that Quiz 1 was quite unfair because of that, and only 6 people in the entire class of 40+ students got above a 90% on Quiz 1. Professor Sanchez said she wouldn't curve this quiz either.
The workload for this class was oftentimes ridiculous. For example, during week 10, we had an assignment or presentation due every day of the week, and I felt that this was quite unreasonable considering most of us are taking multiple other classes as well.
