This class is basically Calc AB but taught using different terms, there are major concepts taught in this class that closely resemble things taught in AB like First deriv/second deriv rule and critical points, but are named different things. As long as you stay on track and do the homework little by little instead of procrastinating, and make sure you understand the concepts taught you should be good. Homework is hard because Jukka doesn't really teach us how to solve the problems during lectures so I watched office hours recordings to understand how to do some of them. The labs were kinda hard. I think that as long as you ask for help when you need it you should be good in this class because of how understanding/kind/amazing Jukka and his team of TAs are. Jukka is honestly such an amazing prof!!! I love him and I'm so glad I'm taking him for 30b. He's hilarious also.

Jukka is so incredible and I'd definitely recommend taking this course! He is super generous with the grading and is always willing to take suggestions from his students; he also responds to any emails/questions very quickly. The midterm was fairly easy but the final was a bit more challenging. While this is the case, the most challenging part of the class would be the homework assignments. Homework is graded off accuracy and the problems assigned are usually much harder than what is on the midterm/final.
Also not a review on Jukka (he's great) but this class is literally not math and the textbook is written by someone who thinks we understand more than we actually do.
Also Flippy and Puffers are very cute.

Professor Jukka was a great instructor. He was always enthusiastic and would take the time to answer several questions during lecture with clear explanations. When he sensed that a good amount of the class was struggling with a concept, he would make sure to review it for a bit before getting into the rest of that day's lesson. The coding aspect of the class honestly wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be (just time consuming). Sometimes the workload was a but much, but it never really felt like useless busy work. Coming from someone who was very much lacking confidence in their math skills after high school, this class was enjoyable.

Jukka is king. I'm actually convinced I would have flunked without him. But he is the coolest dude, by far. Funny too.
Class structure is basically weekly homework, weekly lab, weekly quiz and the participation quizzes. He drops your lowest score for all of those, and you get infinite participation quiz tries. Weekly homework is worth doing just for the practice, especially if you are me and math hurts you. Weekly labs are pretty easy honestly, although I will note I had some python (and java) experience coming into this. But even without that you work in a group that can help you out. Weekly quizzes are doable if you attend/pay attention to lectures, and you get two tries (score is averaged between them).
Exam structure is actually whack but super generous. There's 3 stages. The first stage is literally just making a study guide with your group, and that's 30%. It's free points as long as you follow the instructions. Stage 2 is 40%, and it's an individual section. Make sure to check your work, and doing the practice exam questions he provides is the best way to study for it. Make sure you actually understand them. Stage 3 is group exam with your study guide group. Similar questions to the exam, and with 4 people working on it together you should probably do alright. It's a weird system but allows you to effectively bomb the individual portion (I did!) and still do fine (I did!). Additionally, he'll often offer point make-up opportunities for questions the class as a whole does bad on. So it's pretty fair, in my opinion.

Jukka is hands down the best professor I have experienced at UCLA. Since this is a required class and most of you have to take it, absolutely 100% take it with him. He is so nice and considering to his students.

Jukka is probably one of the best teachers I've ever had. His explanations are very clear and the way he formats his class so that we spend half the lecture reviewing old content and the second half going over new content is really helpful because it helps consolidate what you learn. I really appreciate how he gives us multiple attempts on quizzes and sometimes extends the homework deadline to help our grade. He also gives us multiple parts for the midterm and final, like a group test and study guide so that it won't affect our grades as drastically. The content of his class isn't too difficult but sometimes homework assignments can be a bit long. As long as you watch his office hour recordings and work on it early, though, it's very manageable. Flippy and Puffers are also very adorable.

Jukka is awesome. I had a hard time in this class because I suck at math and it is a LOT of work and a LOT of math. His office hours are always packed but he is still super helpful. His lectures are fun and he is a total character, you will learn a lot in this class. I had a hard time because I got a concussion midquarter, however, Jukka offered me an incomplete in the class so that I could study more for the final and not stress during the quarter. Seriously such a sweet professor and super accommodating. The class itself is a lot of work, as could be expected in an LS course, but that's not his fault and he really does a great job of making the content fun and interesting. All my homies take LS30 classes with Jukka, be like my homies, you'll be glad you if you take this with him too.

Jukka is a super passionate, knowledgable, and accommodating professor. Math is my worst subject but I was able to do pretty decent in the class. There are 2 tests (midterm and final) but they're both pretty easy. By just going over his powerpoint slides and review materials I was able to get an A+ on both tests. The only parts I didn't enjoy about the class were the labs (I hate coding) but thankfully the graders are pretty lenient and the TAs/LAs are always willing to help. Trust me when I say everyone loves Jukka!! Make sure to take this class with him if possible.

Jukka is an absolute legend. I am absolutely gobsmacked as to how well Jukka ran his class. Jukka will take a bullet for you. Jukka would give you the shirt off his back. Jukka is extremely accommodating and takes suggestions very readily. It's been only a few weeks from the last time I was in his class, but I already miss it. If you can take Jukka's class, take it. Absolutely take it. There is not a lick of regret you will experience because it is almost impossible to get a bad grade with the amount of free points and buffer points on the exams he gives you. In fact, I've grown to respect Jukka so deeply that not only have I prepared an acrostic in his honor, but I will also be getting a tattoo of his face on my forehead and will be naming my firstborn Jukka Keranen.

Just take his class
