I'm honestly not sure how the average for this class on here is an A when we averaged an 86% on the midterm and she said "wow this is the highest score we've seen for the average by far!". The extra credit is helpful and very easy, but overall I wouldn't call this class very engaging and you need to know absolutely EVERYTHING she has ever BRIEFLY mentioned to be getting full credit on these tests. I'm not Smurda's biggest fan by a long shot but I would consider the class fair.

Never looked forward to this class. It was boring and Professor Smurda is not a good lecturer sorry. Like okay, some things we learned were fun but this is SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY. i was expecting to be wowed. i was not wowed :( but it was definitely manageable! i took 3 other classes and was able to get an A—albeit just one point away from an A-, but an A nonetheless. the extra credit she offers is a life-saver! it's just okay, but yes, i would recommend! just study. tests are pretty fair.

She was sick for 3 classes before the final and did nothing to help students. The exams are hard and you quite literally need to know every single slide for them which is annoying because if you do not remember a sentence that could be a potential point off. Her practice slides are no way reflective of the exa.mhe exams are made to trick you like if all of the above or only a and b choices

Literally my favorite class I've ever taken in my life. Changed the way I view my own actions and life as a whole. Dr. Smurda is an icon and a legend. She is the moment. I would tell everyone to take this class. My only complaint is I can't take it again lol.

1 midterm, 1 non-cumulative final. Both MCQ in person. Discussion sections have 1 page write-up assignments on readings but the texts are super interesting and easy.

Unless you can guarantee yourself a B or above on the first midterm, don't take this class as there is barely anything on the grade book, making it easy to get a low grade once you don't do well on the midterm.

Interesting material and great lecturer, would take again. 2 exams, higher score weighted 45% and lower score weighted 35%. 20% for section attendance and discussion seeds, which is a paragraph on the readings. You need access to 5 books for discussion, which can be found online. I didn't read them all and you can get by with reading a little from each of the books for the discussion seeds and attending section to understand the books. Other people have concerns about the tests, but I think they were fair, you just have to review your lecture notes and discussion material again to prepare for the test. They give us resources like practice exams and review sessions so you can get an A, along with 2% extra credit for SONA participation and lecture attendance.

I loved this class! The lectures were super fun and had many demonstrations and the tests were not that hard (got an A- and A+ without studying too much). There's a lot of questions with multiple answers but if you know the material it's not bad and all you have to do is just watch the lectures to do well honestly. Also a lot of extra credit opportunity.

Fine class. Hard exams. Professor Smurda talks really fast.

Good class. The exams encourage dstudents to memorize graphs and studies instead of actually learning the ideas of the course so mastery of the course will be low for most.

The tests are extremely tricky. It is unfortunate because all the material was understandable and interesting. I did all the readings, quizzes, paper, and study guide. However, nothing was useful in preparing for the exams. It is truly unfair to have tests worded so tricky and the answer choices were all similar as well. She gives 6 quizzes, 1 final paper, and only 2 exams (1 midterm, 1 final). She does outweigh the final more if you do better on the final than the midterm. I would definitely not recommend taking this class with this professor.
