(I had this class with Alexander Julius, not the professor listed) DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH AJ. He's is the worst. He's a funny guy but his lectures don't make sense at all. He doesn't believe in microphones and does a horrible job explaining what can be at times very convoluted text. That being said, the three assigned papers are very easy and if you have a good TA they will give you the answers to the prompts. It seemed like my TA knew how ridiculous AJ was so she wanted to help us as much as possible. I never went to lecture, rarely showed up to discussions, and still got an A-in the class. It is an experience I would not like to repeat, though.

I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR! The class was a little difficult for me because I'm not fantastic at philosophy, but I really enjoyed her lectures. She did a great job explaining the content, and she has great organizational skills. Yes, she does try to memorize her students' names, and she cares very much about their learning. She also is very enthusiastic about what she teaches, and she answers students' questions effectively. My TA was good, so the overall class was a very good experience.

im a philosophy major who took this class, after taking numerous UD philosophy classes and her demands were ridiculous. well actually she taught the class very well and provided good lectures, but I had a horrible TA. basically, this class CAN be easy and good, but the problems lie not with the teacher, but with the TAs, because they were ALL subpar. I would take her for a upper division course in which she oversees the grading, but not one were the TAs do, because they were horrible to say the least

Her lecturers were quite engaging. She tries to memorize your name during lecture if you ask a question, which I thought was kind of nice of her. She can be a bit rude at times, but she is also concerned about her students understanding the material. The readings are difficult to understand, but then Philosophy in general is a difficult subject. In order to understand the readings more clearly you must go to lectures. However, I do have to warn you that the paper topics are extremely difficult, it takes up a lot of time and of course a lot of overly thinking about subjects, but again, that\355s what Philosophy is all about.
